Last minute Watchmen scene cuts

Okay I understand that there needed to be a cut to make the film short enough for the general public. But did Snyder really have to cut plot points in favor of stupid slow motion action sequences? Seriously there was plenty of other less important things he could have cut like a little bit of Manhattan's and Veidt's background story but noooo we can't cut out Manhattan blowing up mafia men.

Well they could have cut down on that but certain scenes are key in the Vietnam flashback, mainly the Comedian's stuff.

Except I don't know, establish and develop one of the main characters of the story. And the Comedian too!

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. Everything that has been cut from the theatrical release will be on the DVD releases. Is there anything really worth complaining about?

Its not something to get all up and arms with pitchforks about but Snyder cut an important plot point to the story instead of cutting something less important like cutting down the action sequences or the slow mo or shortening the flashbacks.
