Kuuga 2000 or Kuuga 2009

Godai (aka The Real Kuuga) is still stomping that high pitched kid with the Incredible Hulk 'do.

Godai seem to be more suitable for role of Kuuga, but his personailty sometimes seem annoying like being dumb most of the time while Onodera is cocky most of the time anyway I still sort of like Godai as Kuuga more.

I really don't get any dark side to Onedera but then again I don't understand why a dark side would need to be a requirement. The hell is so awful about a guy who is genuinely compassionate towards other people and having that be what drives him? Besides if you watch the show there is an episode that indicates there can be a dark side to Godai when he's pushed to the limit.

Okay, Onedera may not be as dark as I said he is, but the fact that he showed some sign of jealousy and frustration towards fear of being replaced on episode 2. Just that small thing wouldn't phase Godai one bit, at least thats what I think. I think godai would love the help, cause that's the kinda guy I think he is.

The hell is awful about genuine compassion? I don't know dude you brought it up, you tell me. There's nothing wrong with having a character with that kinda personality. The dark side of a fragile human being, and the trouble they cause is what interests me; the characters like Houjou-san from Agito and Masato from Faiz, they stir the pot, keep things more interesting. Those are the type of characters that interests me. and yes, Godai did have a dark side. That **** was fucken awesome how he went all out on the grongi, but as I went deeper into kuuga, the original kuuga just doesn't interests me...

...but the 09 version certainly does though :buttrock: and don't tell me why, cause I have no clear answer for that :D

Spoilers and all that if anyone cares.

I found Onodera to be a bit darker, but that's because it was more of an inherent thing. For a lot of #2, he's just not as nice a guy as Godai was. Based on what we've seen of him, I would put it down to the fact that he's shown to only have one real friend. He's more of a loner. He's somewhat impulsive. He gets jealous. He's tailor-made for this series, because they wanted him to clash with Tsukasa at first.

I think there's also something he lacks in episode #2 which he realizes in #3 when Ai is critical and he suddenly goes all "I can't fight this". I think it's tied to to friends, or just having someone to believe in (and him believing in them.) Ai believes in him, that motivates him to go out and save Tsukasa. Tsukasa believes in him, and they finally fight together like they should. What I love is then how in the end, it then doesn't work out for him. But because he's now made a friend in Tsukasa, I think it affects the way he deals with it.

It's interesting characterization. I don't think it it makes him better than Godai though, as it's somehow more "normal". Characters feeling isolated or jealous, that happens elsewhere. Godai's darker side is especially fascinating to me because I think it's almost totally tied into *being Kuuga*. Godai on his own isn't flawless, but he's a much more...shall I say "completed" character than Onodera, who is still a work-in-progress. Even early on. He's got friends. He's very affable. He's a genuinely good guy and the series shows it from the start. As Kuuga he does great things, but it starts to take its toll. And that's why the series ending the way it does is so significant. It's because Kuuga is Godai that it pans out the way it does.

I dunno. I think it was a conscious decision why they have the Rider War Kuuga (who presumably is Onodera) change to the black-eyed Ultimate Form, beyond simple cheapness or shock value. It's saying something about the character.

I think its just too early to make a call on who's better just because Yuusuke hasn't been fleshed out as a character yet. I'm sure there's more to him considering he's going to be a regular then we actually think.

Totally agree, I think a poll such as this is too early and Godai getting most votes is no surprise at all and totally unfair to onodera. Yes first Impressions are everything, but considering we are only at episode 3, I believe Onodera Yusuke has a lot more room to evolve, and way to early to choose which is the most popular...

...in all honestly though, sry to say but as much as I dislike godai. I believe the original will always be the most popular amongst Kuuga fans...

I was mainly just trying to get where you were coming from with your Godai hate because on the surface it seemed to me like you basically coming from a sort of "good guys are lame because they're good" type stance I'm sadly all too used to finding on fandom boards from folks who can't wrap their brain around anything but the most narrow vision of an anti-hero.

If the character of Godai just doesn't interest you that seems different from actually hating the character which is a little more of a severe reaction IMO.

and hey, if it's as simple as just that you like the new guy then cool.

Godai Yuusuke is the original, and usually original is the best. Onodera is okay but still Godai is still the best.
