Keanu Reeves Confirmed As Spike For "Bebop"

I couldn't stand the anime. I think this movie might be ok. I have always enjoyed Keanu Reeves in most of his movies. The only one I really didn't like was The day the earth stood still.

So it's officially a go. I'm a bit worried about Keanu's presentation of Spike, but not aggravated by the selection.

Much like Barashin, I'm more focused on the presentation of the film itself. The soundtrack is critical, it's pretty much what the series is named after. Vibrant visuals are a must, as well as striking a beautiful balance between metropolitan and intergalactic. And hopefully the script will fulfill Spike's flashback quota, so Julia and Vicious won't feel like strangers.

Guess it's time for us to start an ideal cast thread.

well I have no hope for this movie. Not because of Keannu but just because I know they wont do the wonderful story justice. They will just satire the basic idea.

He isn't writing or directing it, and even then he's still a fan of the series so he might have some sensibility to throw into this project. Don't be so negative so early. That being said I really wouldn't choose him for Spike but I'd pick him over a lot of other actors.

Wasn't it confirmed from the other interview that the story was pretty much the first couple of episodes stretched out?
