Karate Kid 2010 Alternate Ending - Mr. Han vs. Master Li

We all knew it had to exist somewhere on celluloid, and here it is: Jackie Chan takes on Yu Rong-guang (yay!) at the climax of 2010's Karate Kid remake. Not a bad fight! Too bad we had to wait until both guys were old and arthritic to see them clash.

Jackie Chan will never be old and arthritic to me. He isn't even arthritic now. I can see why the fight was cut. It was too extreme. :sweat:

I can see why they cut it... fight wasn't all that great and it was just too much extra that never really got built up after the true climax finished.

Look, I'm as big a Chan fan as you're likely to find. I've seen every movie of his that there is to see multiple times and I used to study his documentaries growing up because I wanted so bad to be a stuntman. The guy was my personal hero for a good portion of my life. But there's no denying that Jackie is past his prime. Hell, he even admits it himself on a regular basis. His body has taken so much abuse over the years that it just barely cooperates with him anymore, even with the assistance of movie magic. He's even said that he has no interest in making action movies anymore, at least not with himself as the star. The only reason he continues to do so is out of expectation and for money so that he can finance his own projects. I don't know if you're oblivious to the decades of brutal work he's put into the industry or what, but if you think this is the same Jackie Chan that starred in The Young Master and was cranking out the Police Story films every other year you're dead wrong.

That being said, I think it's incredible that he still puts together all-things-considered exceptional action scenes considering the amount of pain he's constantly in. Just a testament to the will and motivation of one of the action industry's most influential personalities.

Also, I agree about why the scene should've been cut. I think what we need is a DVD that compiles all the fights Jackie has had cut from his films over his career. It would be about three days long and probably feature some of his best work.

Jackie Chan is still my personal hero. I grew up watching his movies as well. He isn't the same anymore, but he can still do so much considering he's in his late 50's. All the years he has spent acting, producing, directing, and doing stunts won't be lost any time soon. He's inspired others such as Tony Jaa to learn martial arts and continue making movies. Chan's also a great coreographer. He just wants to take it slower now after all the years of intensity. I sure am glad for all these years though.

I remember him mentioning in one interview that ever since the late 80's or early 90's his knees have very little, if any cartilage left in them, and that it does affect the way that he walks and/or runs. It's more pronounced/noticeable when he runs. If you watch his really early stuff, you'll see that after about the 2nd or 3rd POLICE STORY movie, he starts running more and more "bull-legged," with his knees pointing outwards.
