Kamen Rider Wizard, Ep 1 - "The Wizard Uses Rings"

Looks like there's gonna be 40 Rings, looking at the website.

We'll probably get one or two more for the midseason upgrade (if we get one) and the final form.

so it's gonna be fourze all over again? i was hoping for at least 50 to match with the number motif of the show

That would be terrible, wouldn't it? Can't have childish nonsense like comedy, fun or friendship in our totally serious and important superhero show!
There was quite a bit of humor.
Maybe you guys shouldn't watch shows in laguages you don't understand through terrible streaming services.

Pros

-Good fights, all 3 of them.
-Very straightforward episode.
-Very good use of CG.
-Not giving any full explaination to how Haruto got his powers.

Cons

-Worst heisei Kamen Rider opening theme.
-Haruto did not impress as a main Rider.
-A little bit rushed.
-Trying too much to be epic but without presenting anything new or interesting.

Very average episode, definitely the worst opener of the post-Decade era. Hope it gets better with time.

6.5/10

But the song was good. :eyebrow:

It presented enough for one episode. They explain what the Phantom are doing, we saw our villains. We even heard about a big bad.

Yeah, the opening theme is fantastic. It sounds kinda more akin to the shonen opening themes than the usual Rider songs (which are more experimental and, by all means, weird), but it doesn't sacrifice a quality melody.

Nah, OOO's had the worst. The Happy Birthday sequence was nice, but it was a remarkably average episode, nothing special.

Wizard on the other hand felt like it might have showed way too good a premiere for the actual show to live up to. Like Decade, shows a lot of stuff and might not improve upon it.

The episode was interesting but I think you're going a bit too far lol

IMO the episode wasn't as exciting as the first episodes of the past few series but it was overall really solid. It has its silly moments(and they were really silly) and the fight scenes were pretty good.

A lot of the things that happened in this episode reminded me of things I've seen in other rider shows but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I haven't formed an opinion on the characters yet but they are alright I guess.

I can see the belt being very annoying for the first few episodes lol
I agree with most of this.
I thought it was a okay first episode but it didn't blow my mind or anything.

Maybe you should read. I was responding to the content of a post, not the episode. JUST SAIYAN

Really? First impressions for me before we get the subbed episode is that this was somewhere between Fourze and OOO's openers, if not above them and below W. Granted it's been a while since I saw W's opener, but from what I recall it was the best. To me, both Fourze and OOO had somewhat weak openers, overall.

It's kind of interesting that the white wizard seems to have a Wizard-like suit too. I guess every mage might have a Rider form, like the Onis in Hibiki? Or he could be just Skull 2.0...

I liked the initial fighting scene and most of the talking scenes too, but the quick form changes and CG spam in the first real monster battle didn't really do much for me, although I liked the scenes with the girl's memories and her body cracking...

Also, I'm relieved to see that the Phantoms have human forms. I really don't want another bunch of Yummies running around, they really came off like random Sentai monsters.

There's no number motif.

on another note. the series was a bit more serious than the previous series so far. but it may go back to the comedy roots next episode.

There's no number motif.

well they toned it down for that matters, but he is using rings on his hand which has five fingers. so there's your mambo number 5.
