Kamen Rider THE NEXT

Wow, I can't wait to see what kind of lame star-crossed shocker kaijin love story they shoe-horn into this POS.

 I have to say, I liked the idea of the kaijin story (it's pure Inoue), but I think the problem was who they cast and how strangely they placed it in the movie. They had more important things to do, like make Hayato's story make sense, or try to make the "love" story convincing. THE FIRST has the stupidest structure and it just seemed like they mostly made it up on the spot. And I don't expect THE NEXT to be much different.

Also, I really can't see Miyauchi approving of the casting of Kato as Fujioka and Sasaki just took the casting of those other guys.

Sometimes the productions don't really turn out to be what they are. I bet that the cast and crew that worked on The First had intended to make something completely different from the final cut. But time and money probably took that away from them.

That's pretty much every and any TV show or movie, though -- and that's no real excuse for something to turn out poorly, because there have been troubled or rushed productions that have the talent to still make most of it work. But I think THE FIRST is exactly what they wanted it to be -- a lame, stiff, mopey tale that strips the source material of its life and interest, glamming it up to cover its hollowness and make it fit in with the current Rider shows of the same nothingness. They weren't interested in appealing to fans of the old series or manga, it was strictly catered to those who like the new soap-operas. I'm still surprised Igadevil (hey, where is he?) liked it, it seems like a giant slap-in-the-face to long-time fans.

As for the "lame wire-fu", us stuntmen work our asses off setting-up, planning and executing this stuff. It ain't exactly a cakewalk man. I've worked with some really talented people over here and they do nothing less than the best that they got.

Of course it's understood that it's a bitch for the stuntmen to perform them, but you think someone would watch the finished film, see how bad it looks, not waste their energy or talent on it, and fire the choreographer. I think it's much more interesting to actually see stunt performers rely on their own, natural born talents than be assisted by wires that turn their work into such a bizarre and awkward looking sight that it ruins what they're doing. I just don't think tokusatsu is capable of doing the "wire-fu" well, and THE FIRST certainly wasn't. But THE FIRST had a bigger problem than bad wirework -- there was that bad script that needed dealt with. God, that movie was bad...

It's okay to speak your mind and have your own tastes, but you don't seem to realize how much trouble productions go through to make a movie.

And speaking as a stuntman in Japan, you should really try to see the bigger picture.

Try to see the whole picture before ya start to judge there buddy.

woah, ur a stuntman? that is soo cool. have u worked on any well-known work?

okay, back on subject. I like the updated version of V3. even though i never saw it, from wat i hear, it was made originally too look like a slightly rendered version of 1 and 2. so it fits. and the updated helmet looks fine to me. i dont think a huge helmet like the original would look cool today. i like how they showed continuity with the damaged helmets of 1 and 2, makin it look like they have been through many battles since the end of The First. I dont see any other changes to the suits of 1 and 2 though.

I think Kato can pull of the roll of V3. He did a good job playin a serious role in KR: GSL. so i think he has the capacity. gotta wait and see.

This looks really interesting and i really hope that they release this in the US like The First. even though that will be like 2 years from now, im willin to wait.

hmm i dont see v3's scarf. and is it just me or did they change the helmets a little bit from the first?

i never liked the character of daisuke, but kato does fit the description of kazami.

His scarves are on his back. And yes not just the helmets but the chest armor for Ichigou and Nigou have been made worn, scratched, and dingy, like they've been through a lot of fighting. :anime:

I'm not too pleased with V3's helmet myself, the jaw part shouldn't be so narrow for one. Also think the suit shouldn't be so dark. Maybe not as light as the original costume but you should at least be able to see that it's green. Same for the red on the boots. They could have also done to give him the white collar. Oh well.

...so what do you think...BLACK...or is it GREEN. I guess they didn't want to use white this time.

Wow, it looks so much better when you see the full body.

Wait, seriously, then what honestly defines a Rider series for you? I agree that the story of THE FIRST needed some work, but you're being unnecessarily harsh on it. If anything, it's a lot more serious than the current Rider shows. And hell, how are they "hollow" anyway?

They weren't interested in appealing to fans of the old series or manga, it was strictly catered to those who like the new soap-operas. I'm still surprised Igadevil (hey, where is he?) liked it, it seems like a giant slap-in-the-face to long-time fans.

Stockholders honestly don't give a **** about that fluff on "fans" as long as the "fans" rake in the money, but I digress. I respect your opinion, but really, I point out again that you're just very harsh with your judgment of the film. They brought in a digitally edited Dr. Shinigami, they brought in the original death animations of the Shocker goons. Maybe taken at face value and with a very pessimistic mindset, you can say that those are "eye candy" only brought in to justify that this was a reimagining of the original, but is it TRULY a giant slap in the face for the typical 40-30 year old dude that watched Kamen Rider as a kid?

Scriptwork yes, but the action scenes I certainly thought were great. Why do you hate this movie so much with every fiber of your soul? :(

the eyes on V3's helmet look too small. thats just about the only thing that bothers me. along with the red thorax being reduced to almost nothingness. and the white collar. and the dark colored suit.

oh and i suppose theyll explain how nigo survives in this movie?
