Kamen Rider Ryuki: Shattered Reflections (RPG Thread)

"A Rider, huh..." the man muttered.

Akihito Takano was on one of his random car cruises. He had been doing that a lot lately, as a way of giving himself a breather between the stress of his research, his teaching at Seimeiin University, his parents (and their endlessly petty political schemes)... and of course, his brother's disappearance.

To clear his head, he had decided that he would drive to a nearby shrine. It wasn't that he was religious. Honestly, he had always found it hard to believe in the story of some Indian prince achieving nirvana by sitting under a tree for 49 days meditating. Besides, the shrine he was heading to was once burned down. Arson, he remembered reading from the newspapers. Wouldn't that be evidence of "evil spirits" and such? It was hardly the place anyone to go for a blessing.

Still, Takano hadn't visited a shrine for years now, and the quietness of the place might do him good. "And who knows?" he smiled, a bit bitterly. "Maybe Buddha will have the answer to the Mirror World."

So he had parked his car, had a quick smoke (a habit he developed since Kanji disappeared), and strolled up the steps.

The fight was hard to miss. These people weren't very shy about making a lot of noise. Takano briefly debated with himself on whether or not to step in, but decided against it. No sense in getting caught in whatever they were fighting about. Plus, the red-head and the girl who looked like Erika Midorikawa ("No way it could be her," Takano snorted) both seemed... well, a little too enthusiastic about the whole fight.

Best to stay out of it for now, Takano thought. Nearby, he saw a high school kid hiding himself behind a tree, and decided that it probably wasn't a bad idea.

Then things got interesting...

He noticed the red-head reaching into her pocket, and started pulling out what seemed to a small black rectangular case with what seemed like a golden bat engraving on top. It was only for a second before she pushed the case back in her pocket, but a second was all Takano needed to recognize that case. THAT, Takano knew, was a card deck. And this girl was, like him, a Kamen Rider.

What timing.

Takano didn't want to fight her. He briefly thought about leaving the shrine, remembering from his readings about the "Rider War." Finding Kanji was his concern, not killing other Riders.

But she was the first stranger he saw who was a Kamen Rider. There was a chance that she might know something he didn't, and ANY information was good information at this point.

As he saw the fight dying down, and the red-head leaving. Takano made a decision.

He would follow her for a bit. He was, after all, only visiting the shrine. Right?

(P.S.: Hi all. My character's debut appearance! For more background information, please see the sign-up thread. There, I've developed a bit more background on Akihito Takano... aka. Kamen Rider Raia.

Note that I've also highlighted other people's characters in BOLD and UNDERLINE, so it's easier for people to pick up my story from I left off if they want to.

While Brook was in class he heard the high pitch ringing sound again, he couldn't stand it so he raised his hand and asked to use the restroom. The teacher said," Go ahead." Brook ran to the restroom where he was close to and placed his bag near the sing. Brook took his rider deck out and said," Ok I need to hurry." Brook faced the deck towards the mirror and his belt attached to his waist. Brook then slid the rider deck into the belt and said," Henshin." Brook then changed into Ohja and ran into the mirror.

After appearing he saw two gazelle like monsters that looked at Ohja as he said," I do not one to deal with you, but your deaths will help everyone." He took his visor out and ran at the monsters swinging it at them. He slammed the head of the visor against the head of one of the gazelle monsters then front kicked the other. He took out his sword card and said," I hope you all hope you will win." He placed it into the head of his visor and his Veno Sable flew to his hand. Catching his blade he swung it at the gazelles slashing them until a third one appeared like it was a upgraded version of the other to. It then ran up to Brook and slashed his back. While being tossed to the ground Brook hoped for someone to save him.

(OOC: If anyone can I only need one person to join in,it would be helpful.)

Erika continued her way to the studio when she heard a high-pitched ringing noise in her ears. Ow! It's another one of those mirror monsters again! How annoying... Erika knew that she had to supply her contract monster with enough energy from defeated mirror monsters so that it wouldn't rebel against her, but besides from that, she could care less on what they did. Oh, the poor people! My job's to entertain them, not protect them, though. Once I become a Goddess, I'll get rid of all those annoying things...not because I care about those poor, innocent, people but because they annoy me... Bringing out her cell phone, she took the phone number Ryusei gave her from her skirt pocket and dialed it. I'll tell him to follow me around, but keep his distance. That way, those two pests won't expect him...

Ryusei had been asleep in the alley for several hours, not bothering to get up. He had been tired for a while. A good night's sleep was what he needed. But, the ringing of his cellphone snapped him out of his sleep.

Ryusei reached into his jacket, pressing the enter button and placing the phone to his ear. "Erika? Alright. I'll be there in five." Ryusei pressed end on his phone and slipped it into his pocket, raising himself from the grungy floors of the alley. It was not long before Ryusei came to a big enough puddle that he stopped and gazed at it, an orange crab monster staring back at him. Reaching into his other pocket, Ryusei pulled out a square card holder, a symbol of a crab on its front. Ryusei raised it to the puddle, a metallic belt forming around his waist, before bringing it back, extending his other arm and giving a "peace" sign. "Henshin!" Ryusei slipped the card holder into the belt slot, a two-dimensional image flipping from boths side of him before converging on his figure, giving Ryusei orange armor. Scissors was now ready for battle. Scissors ran into the mirror as if it were water, ending up in a strange dimension where a vehicle waited for him. Scissors entered the vehicle, reving its engine as it sped off at super speeds into a blinding light... the mirror world waiting patiently at the other end.

Hatsu broke out of her huddle, no longer frighten now that the " evil women" or Erika left the premise. She was somewhat still shaken but at this point more annoyed at the appearance of strangers who want to cause harm to her and disrespect the shrine grounds with all this yelling and talking. Her train of thought was broken as someone asked her if she was alright. She quickly stood up and replied " I'm fine thank you, but what's with all the people over here at the shrine? what business do you all have here are you here to just pray or cause trouble like the other guest that was here earlier" Hatsu asked everyone that was there, the shrine priestess is now angry and is wishing for answers.

Haruhi, who had not gotten far into the temple, felt her heart wrenched once more as she heard the priestess talk about her in an angry voice. So...even the shrine's priestess hates me.....Whatever. Everyone thinks I'm nothing more than a problem anyway.... she hissed, turning around and heading back to the grounds in front of the temple in order to face the priestess. "I apologize if I have caused you trouble. I shall leave this time around," Haruhi told the priestess in a cold, impersonal tone as she bowed in front of her. Upon doing so, she promptly headed downstairs toward her motorcycle.

Erika had finally reached her studio and entered it, making her way to the filming area. Time to do some filming for a commercial! What was the product again? Before she reached the area, however, she was stopped by her manager, who noticed Erika's lips, which still had some blood on them. "Erika, what happened!" The buxom woman just giggled slightly. "It's nothing. I just bit my lip, that's all. I better go to the bathroom and get this cleaned."

She soon left her manager behind and went to the women's restroom, where she would clean herself up and to also to get ready for Ryusei to arrive. "I told the boy to follow me. I sure hope he's not itching to fight now. I don't even know where those two pests are." Little did Erika know that she did meet one of those "pests" at the shrine, and she was the cause for her bloody lip. Cleaning the last bit of blood off, Erika smiled sickly at the sight of her own blood as it drained into the sink. It's been a long time since one of my victims actually fought back. I'm excited. Oh, If you were only a Rider, Aka-chan. We could have so much fun... Coming out of her sadistic thoughts, she went to her dressing room to get ready for the commercial and Ryusei's arrival...

For a while, Takano debated between answering to the angry shrine maiden (upset from the fight, most likely; maybe this shrine was cursed by evil spirits after all), or following the angry redhead going towards her motorcycle. After seeing the irritated expression on the redhead's face, Takano decided he should just back off for today.

He didn't want to be the victim of that roundhouse kick. That, and he didn't want to get involved with another possible Rider yet... and certainly didn't want to reveal that he WAS one too.

If she was indeed a Rider, then they would undoubtedly meet again in the Mirror World. Contract monsters needed to feed, after all, and there would be battles. It wouldn't be long before they crossed paths again. He would recognize her when the time came, since he had noticed before that her card deck had a bat engraving (which meant that her contract monster was some kind of a bat).

So instead, Takano approached the white-haired man and the shrine priestess, and bowed in respect (he didn't want to irritate an upset shrine maiden either).

"I'm sorry for intruding. Are you Hatsubayashi-san? The miko at this shrine? I've come for fortuning telling."

Subaru stopped himself from yelling at her and smiled. "I came to pray for my girlfriend who's in a coma right now I wanted to pray that she wake up soon I miss her so much." He said he couldnt cry even if he wanted to hatred had taken those tears away and only Ryuki's death would free him, atleast thats what Subaru believes. Just then his focus on the priestess was broken by a new person who seemed to have been looking for the now ticked off priestess. "Well I'll go now if that green haired girl attacks you again I'll be here." He said as he walked towards a tree near the shrine that he and his lover always went to.

Takano glanced at the man walking away. He had overheard something about his lover being in a coma, before he broke in asking for fortune telling. He nodded to to the man in a quick apology as the man passed by, who nodded back and began to walk towards a tree. Maybe the tree had some memory of his lover?

Ironically, that was the tree Takano was hiding behind just a second ago. Funny how life worked out.

(P.S.: This was probably an unnecessary post, but the image struck me as I read Kai's part. Slice of life :))
