Bio: Zen grew up as the son of a police man. He had very little regrets or bad memories growing up, his life a normal one. However, as he found out at a young age, Zen had an incredible gift for detective work. Able to easily formulate and take apart plans, Zen began to study forensics and criminal psychology. He went on to further study as much as he could, eventually graduating from Tokyo University with high honors as the youngest student, him being 19 at the time. As expected, he eventually become a police officer like his father and rose quickly in the ranks due to his intelligence. At the age of 20, Zen became a full fledged detective, and went on to solve his first case. It was a bank robbery and Zen arrested the culprit with little trouble. For the past four years Zen has been a detective, one of Tokyo's finest. He went on to solve numerous cases and soon crime began to dwindle, with fear of the "unbeatable detective" who would find you before you even committed the crime.
But the story of the robber who Zen first arrested was not over. The man was released from prison after serving for little less than a year, and began his plan. He hated Zen for ruining his robbery attempt. Even though Zen had little trouble foiling it, the robber's plan was a masterwork that had taken a year to properly create and realize. Months of planning had all been destroyed by a single kid. The robber was furious, and went on to learn. He was easily able to find all the information he could on Zen, and began to follow his life. Like Zen, he enrolled at Tokyo University and studies every course Zen had taken, compelled to become like the young detective. It had been two years now, and Zen was 23. It was late at night that Zen got a call at his office from his mother, begging him to come home. Zen immediately returned, only to find his parents both brutally murdered. However the killer was nowhere to be found. Zen left his parents house and began his search. It was maddening. The killer left clues for Zen to follow, all the while, spurring him on like it was a twisted game. And even though Zen was able to always figure out the clues, it was neither easy nor quick.
The killer became know as the "Random Killer" for his twisted deaths he crated, each appearing to be random and unconnected, as if killed on a whim. However Zen was able to deduce each kill as a clue for him to follow, each leading him to the next victim. Zen never told the police force this, and eventually left all together, trailing the killer on his own. Zen soon had nothing, he constant chase with the killer left him homeless, penniless and rugged. But still he chased, knowing that only he could find the murderer. That's how it was for months, Zen trailing the killer all over Japan, figuring out each clue the man left and always being to late for the victims. Eventually he made it back to Tokyo, his latest clue forcing him to his home. It was there he was arrested. All the time Zen had been chasing the killer, the killer had been putting more and more evidence up, making it seem as Zen himself was the "Random Killer." Unable to prove himself, Zen eventually escaped custody and made his way to his parents grave, where he found the true, who finally revealed himself. Zen for a moment was glad, but soon realized the implications. Even if the real killer was right in front of him, he had no proof. Not only that, but in the end he had been unable to solve it himself. By revealing himself, the killer had taken all that Zen had left, the chance to figure out the truth. Finally broken, Zen was shot by the killer and died next to his parents grave.
Zen woke up some time later, unsure of where he was. He seemed to be a lifeless world, until Odin found him. Handing him the Advent Deck, Odin promised him a shot a life, provided he compete in this tournament of sorts. Realizing he had little alternative, Zen reluctantly agreed. Zen will fight any monster sent at him. And his training as a detective and police officer ensure he is formidable opponent. Zen wishes to come back to prove his innocence. But more importantly, he sees the second chance at life as another opportunity to prove his is the greatest detective and bring the true killer to justice.
