Having evil Kamen Riders adds some realism to where not everyone who gains Rider powers automatically uses it for good. These days it's more of a designation than an actual meaning.

They can have rider like power but they don't have to be kamen riders. Technically Shocker Riders weren't Kamen Riders per say....

I think he did take the name to mess with Double. He must've known what it meant to him.

Gives big meaning to this scene as well:

In his last breath, Katsumi Daido curses Kamen Rider Double and says that Philip is still a monster. Shotaro retorts back that Philip is not a monster, but he is Kamen Rider Double. Eternal is destroyed in a massive fireball as everyone cheers on

Shadow Moon wasn't a Rider either and Battle Hopper was also meant to be his.

The enemy in Movie Wars Core apparently will use the memories of past Riders combined to transform, so that's why he's called a "Kamen Rider" too, it's not really a stretch.

Technically Shocker Riders weren't Kamen Riders per say....

"The Eight Kamen Riders" episode title kind of disagrees with you, considering how it basically counted Ichigo and Nigo alongside the 6 Shocker Riders. They weren't heroic Riders and had their own numbering system, but were still officially called "Kamen Riders" at least once.

Of course, they were the exception for the Showa era. When more Rider-like warriors appeared in later shows, they were usually just monsters resembling the Rider (sometimes only in alternate forms), but with an unrelated name. And, of course, Shadow Moon was never called a Rider in the series itself (although some merchandising called him a Rider). However, in spite of that, they still were a precedent for evil Riders.

Inoue is apparently also writing episodes 7-10 of OOOs as well.........that should give you a clue (as well as a warning sign :eyebrow: )

Right, but the meaning of the original Kamen Rider was a name given to those who used their powers acquired from malicious forces to do good and fight for justice.

Still don't like it though. There's just something wrong with calling people like Asakura(Ouja) a Kamen Rider or Shadowmoon a Kamen Rider.

I guess so, considering that the writing team got the Kamen Rider part right, they probably won't make a mistake there with Eternal. I'm staying clear of any other spoilers however until I have watched the movie with subs. ><

Confirmed yet? The site I usually check for info only has stuff listed up to episode 4 (Kobayashi is writing that far at least) and I would think it's just a tad bit too early for information that far out in advance to be released yet.

It's so far a rumor for now as reported via Red Ranger in the Movie Wars Core rumors thread. I hope it's not true personally
