Speaking of "back then", I wonder how creating the O-Medals worked 800 years ago?
I imagine the creators of the Medals capturing one of each creature and taking blood, fur, etc. from them and via some complex ritual or alchemy, the Medals are born!
Capturing the animals needed for Uva's and Ankh's Medals would have been easy, being tiny insects and medium-sized birds. Kazari's would've been the most difficult to capture seeing as they were dealing with big dangerous predators, Gameru's component animals would be as difficult due to sheer size and strength.
Mezuru's component creatures will be somewhat difficult, since an orca is so big and heavy, the eel would electrocute its captors, and they'd have to be careful that the octopus doesn't strangle them.
Of course they'd select certain parts of the animals to result in the Medals' effect on OOOs:
TaJaDoRu: A Hawk's head, Peacock's feathers, and Condor talons, all lit on fire.
GataKiriBa: A large amount of Stag Beetle heads, Mantis claws, and Grasshopper legs all ground up into a mixture of some sort, stirred with an electrically conductive metal.
RaToraTah: A Lion's head, Tiger claws and Cheetah legs mixed with some substance tied to the sun.
SaGoZo: A Rhino's horn, a Gorilla's fists and an elephant's hooves covered in earth.
ShaUTa: An Orca's head, an Eel's electrical organs and Octopus' tentacles suspended in water.
I....thought too much into this.
Lol, if Kougami made Nobunaga's "Crustacean" Core Medal set this way, he probably would use the leftovers of a seafood dinner and a taxidermy scorpion or something.
