It is. It has a unifying feature that associates it with the Kougami Foundation, like the ZECT logos on the Kabuto suits or the decks and belts in Ryuki.

Well if KR insists on always having an asshole 2nd Rider (except Chalice, I love Chalice) then I'll abandon OOOs and stick to Super Sentai...
Kidding. Of course I won't. I've been looking forward to OOOs and I don't want my hatred of asshole/hardass/prick characters ruin it for me. I'll just skip scenes like Gotou grabbing Eiji by the collar (2nd Riders tend to do that) or Gotou grumbling about everything. (2nd Riders grumble too).
I like the design of Birth too, I just don't like who will be wearing the suit. If the suit looks good and it spouts angst, then it becomes ugly!
Why can't there be any friendly or non-abrasive 2nd Riders? There are very few of those, like G3, Diend, Ibuki, etc.
I understand the reason for having an asshole Rider is so there can be a Rider Battle, but can't it be for reasons other than the 2nd Rider has a massive problem with the main Rider, like say fighting each other just as a sparring session or something.
Besides, I'm sure Gotou will eventually play nice. Or he might die, or he might become evil in the end, most likely a pawn of the Greeed.

Personally I don't really see Gotou as an asshole. I mean, I understand where the people who think so are coming from, but I just can't see him in the same light unless I force myself to do so. Sure, he has beef with Eiji, but I think his reasons for complaining about Eiji have all been valid so far, instead of just being founded on Gotou himself being an asshole :eyebrow:
Gotou's a soldier, I think, not just profession-wise but mentality-wise. He feels that Eiji doesn't have the mindset needed to fight the Greeed as OOO, and he feels betrayed maybe since everyone else seems to support Eiji. And yet he's helped Eiji several times, and never really worked against him so far (well, he did hesitate in handing over the cake with the Tora medal, but I think that's due to him still being pissy about the argument with Kougami
).I do think Gotou could go either way as the show progresses, but so far I don't see the asshole others are seeing *shrug*

I'm worried the 2nd rider will be able to turn into a glorified RideVender. Accel VS Birth! Birth leading a group of RideVenders into battle.
