But weren't the rest of the Greed surprised when they heard that Ankh betrayed them in the first episode? I'm not sure they would have been that surprised if it had occurred before.

well they were in that box for 300 years, they could have forgotten about him(or her)
 
or it could be that the Greeeds didn't know Giru's existence because he is an ancestor of the Greeeds, considering that it is a "dinosaur."
