Kamen Rider Kuuga Fansub Project

The should is called Kamen Rider Double. You can pretty much hear them say it when ever they henshin in the series. There is no pun here really. And say there was, fansub groups have NO business copying over the Japanese titles.

Saying it's not Double pretty much means you're saying the title screen is wrong. And that's pretty silly imo xD That's all the reason you need. Also the fact that they pronounced the letter W differently in in the W-memory episodes.

And tvn subs suck because they just completely forget about what subtitles should be about. Like I said before, with good subs you basically forget that they're there. That isn't going to happen with tvn subs is it. They're trying to make the subs the main focus. Which is just really bad.

And old yellow subs look bad because they're usually hardsubbed on very bad vhs raws. It's not my favorite color for subs but yellow subs can look a lot better with newer raws ^^. White and yellow are the only colors that should be used in subs.

To be honest I didn't read most of the comments in this thread, so I don't really understand what you mean when you say this. I watch TVN subs all the time and understand everything perfectly and don't speak a word of japanese.

Sorry but no. They leave random words in Japanese and expect people to know what they mean. I loved the Coffee-tachi and Master-Sama.

Yeah, he probably has been watching their subs for a while now. They started doing it more during time. So he just got used to it. If you let someone who's new to fansubs watch an episode of Shinkenger he or she would probably have the same complaints about the translation.

Well... a lot was said on this very quickly.

Jaiku (a guy from this new group) came into our IRC channel last night to let us know they were planning to pick up the project. I let him know that it's not dead just on hiatus for a bit, but we have no problem with anyone else subbing Kuuga either. It's not like we in any way own the show.

The grongi seems to have been discussed and explained to the point of exhausting the subject so no point commenting on that now. =P

Personally we wouldn't pick up a project part way through leaving off from someone else, and before looking at this topic I didn't realise they we're planning to do that. I never really asked anything about how they were gonna sub it when Jaiku let me know about it. However, this isn't SCS subbing it so picking it up at 13 is their choice, and while it's not one we'd make I do take

Infact the reason we ARE starting at episode 13 is because we think that they have done a great job in covering the show so far.

Best of luck in subbing Kuuga the way you prefer it. People will comment on how they personally prefer it, a lot of points will be valid and some may sway you, but in all honesty SCS sub the show how we prefer it and it'd be unfair to expect other groups to do differently...


Personal comments on the opening:
-Looks like you've hard subbed it onto a 4:3 video rather than cropping off the black borders. Is this the plan for all the releases? Anyone with a 16:9 monitor will either have black bars all the way around the video drastically reducing the size of the video or they'll be stretching a letterboxed 4:3 video over a 16:9 aspect ratio severly warping the dimensions of the video...

-Personally think the romaji is too big. However, I have no problem with the English translations font or size. Also, as stated above, issue with both being on the black borders.

-Also, personally not a fan of the logo being covered with the translation. Plus I never like splash pages, especially ones with sound effects. =P

The 'splash page' as you call it will only be appended to the Video's being uploaded to Youtube so we can actually direct people to the place where they can come pick up the full quality fansubs. It will not be included in the Actual Releases.

We will be cropping off the borders and making it a wide screen release however the Youtube videos will be 4:3 and include the black borders. As for Covering the Logo, I will make sure to fix that in the final release, as i heard a lot of complaints about that.

I was wondering however, since while i am waiting for our translator to finish his script, I have been experimenting a little with encoding. And i think i can make an MKV encode with soft subs which would obviously have the option of turning of the grongi fansubs. However i personally think that MKV generates more problems then it solves. And would like to hear your opinions on whether going for 2 releases in avi format (one with grongi subs the other without it) or going for an MKV release is preferred.

IMO if you can do both then do both. Some people love the soft subbed MKV's and others want the AVI so they can watch on Xbox's and make dvds and such. You can't please everyone, but since you asked I think both would be great.

I wasn't trying to insult you, I genuinely did not know what you were talking about. I agree they should fix that. I understand them because I looked it up, but I guess it would alienate some people
