That's exactly what I've been thinking. Somebody please point out to me what's so orgasmically awesome about this trailer (or concept), and while you're at it, explain why you're worshipping Steve Wang...?

Reason why I worship at the Church of Wang is because he provided one of the greatest college nights I can remember in the form of DRIVE. The action in that was so phenomenal, me and a bunch of guys held a gorram party around it in my friend's dorm full of hoots and hollerin' at the action. That and he was behind one of my all time favorite Power Ranger episodes. It's just reeeeaaaaalllly awesome to know a guy who seems to know what we like is behind this show. A guy that likes martial arts and monsters without apology.

Far cry from Masked Rider. No bumbling villians that run into each other or little kids running around. Just action heroes, martial arts and monsters. The trailer was put together really well and I think people are excited about how seriously it's being taken rather than some goofy angle.

At least those are my reasons for liking it. Acting's not the best, but I think they wanted to go with people who both had the look AND could possibly do their own stunts, which I'm okay with. I'm more than willing to trade acting in a show like this for actors who can fight.

Hey Kingranger, how's it going?

How can you say the show doesn't do Ryuki justice? Dragon Knight hasn't even been made yet!

Why are people getting so bent up about the quality of this. It is not a REAL trailer. It's just a promotional tool to be shown to potential buyers of the show. To my knowledge, stuff like this is never made on a high level budget. Sorry if that one guy didn't say "kamen" correctly, but it not like it's something that can't be fixed if the show ever does get picked up. It's pretty clear, given the couple of action shots, that that guy was chosen for his martial arts performance skills rather than his acting ability, like Jason Frank in MMPR.

Way I take it.. there's ALWAYS gonna be someone who hates and says something sucks. Doesn't take away from their opinion at all... it's just theirs and I'm happy to let them have it. For myself, I'll wait 'til the actual finished product to make my decision.

That AND I'm old enough to know that because of an adaptation, it doesn't mean the original doesn't exist. It'll always be in my heart as the first toku that got me into the genre. Liking Dragon Knight doesn't mean I like Ryuki any less.

Bottom line... they could have Oscar performances, Lucas Arts special effects or they could bring over the original with subtitles and you will still ALWAYS find someone that hates it for some reason.... let 'em. It is the nature of the Beast named, Opinion.

I would like Ron Wasserman to comeback to do this series; perhaps, create Individual Rider themes for each Rider when they fight, similar to that of Bleach.

So, do you just hate all adaptations that try to be different because that somehow means there's a secret agenda against the Asian culture? How does this "misintroduce" them?

I think they should've introduced everyone with the original 1971 series.

Now, they're going to re-explain "Kamen Rider" as some race from another dimension, and it's very annoying. It's kind of like how Gundam Wing "misintroduced" the Gundam franchise. As if that were the first Gundam series ever made, and the end-all-and-be-all of Masked Rider shows.

Ryuuki was a deviation.

I'm not going to say it's as great as people think it is, but it does look pretty interesting. It should get lots of children to like it. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Don't watch it!? Pal, I have not even watched Power Rangers in almost a decade, because I don't bother with these kinds of Americanizations. But I still have to worry, because they've ruined super-cool culture, and this is only encouraging it.

If, say, Ultraman gets this kind of treatment, it's a tragedy. Chaiyo may very well encourage it to happen.

It's like saying that Raymond Burr must be digitally inserted into every single Godzilla film.

It's going to have no affect at all on the Japanese stuff, so you've got no reason to complain. Unless you really believe yourself when you say that Americans hate Asian culture and crap.

True, but I mean, he wasn't even in charge of the action. People treat him like a star choreographer or something. I'm not saying he's a bad director, I've just never seen any of his work and gone "Wow! That's above average!" At least maybe he can take it a little more seriously that all the sappy Power Rangers crap, although that could be a curse too if the show ends up taking itself too seriously.
