Kamen Rider Black - Talkback!

Ok I'm three episodes into the series,thanks to Prons and the Shin Getter team, and I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. The monster designs are pretty cool, loved those spiders from episode one. But I keep hearing how depressed and moody Kotaro is supposed to be, and honestly I'm not seeing it yet. Maybe it comes out later in the series

Huh? Who told you that? Kotaro is never moody or depressed... he's serious when he needs to be and very contemplative but for the most part he's a pretty funloving high spirited guy.

It was over at JA and maybe depressed and moody were the wrong words to use. I just wasn't expecting him to be, as you put it, high spirted. Especially when the guys over at JA say he way too happy during RX. Guess I was expecting something different

Yeah, the oldschool Riders unlike most of what we get recently (Hibiki excluded) were actually friendly and happy and didn't just bitch and brood. Kotaro was a cool guy in Black but I think he was just kind of goofy in RX.

Black draws the line between being too over dramatic, and being a good ol fashioned super hero show, from what I've seen, in my opinion.

I actually like Birugenia more than Shadowmoon.

Shadowmoon couldn't even move as much like BLACK so it was pretty hard for him to fight in that gear. Don't get me wrong though, Shadowmoon is still badass, he still gives me the creeps everytime I watch the series and I hear his footsteps out of nowhere.

If there was ever a fantasy dream match between two tokusatsu villains, I would like to see Shadowmoon take on Black Beet (Juuko Beetle Fighter) with Kou the Kibaranger as the special guest referee.

I grew up watching Black and black RX, but Shadowmoon still scares the Hell out of me! :confused2

I disagree with that. If they kept putting as much care into the show as they had with the early episodes, it would have turned out plain awesome. But, I think the show starts to really suck in the second half...not an immense Faiz-suck, but it's certainly not as cool as it was in those first episodes and it gets way too repetitive. Cut the chin music, Shadow Moon, and battle Black Sun already for that damned King Stone!

Black's still my second favorite Rider series (after Agito), but it could have been so much more, a potential not reached. And then RX came in and dragged it down some more, so points off for that, too. A true sequel could have fixed what went wrong with Black, but they just didn't want to bother with RX.

Oh, and Birugenia IS cooler than Shadow Moon. Shadow Moon's all talk, no action. There couldn't be action, look at that tin-can suit of his!
