Kabuto's Second Half (everyone seems to hate it?)

To me, the ending is what makes or breaks a show. I thought Kabuto's final enemy reveal and final battle were really weak.

Yeah, the problem with Kabuto's latter half was that it didn't answer much that was set up in it's former half. So many plot holes. (And WTH happened to Kagami's TheBee tatto?!? XD)

i don't think that will happen... its more likely to expect an origins story of owner than that....:)

yah I know..they did not think of it..hehe..

I got bored so much with Kabuto ep 29 and 30 the black knife story.
It was just like random event that happened to challenge Tendou's cooking.. :disappoin

Let's not forget the biggest plot hole of all, how Kick and Punch Hopper were formed. Like, where did they find their Zecters? Who gave it them?

Riku Kagami (Gattack's father and Zect's leader) gave them their Zecters. It's confirmed by extra material. In the show itself, there's a scene where Mishima accuses Riku of doing it and Riku just stays in silence afterwards.

How did they decide to become a team? Even the kids who watched this had to be asking those questions themselves.

The Hoppers seem to be fan favorites among the Japanese fanbase for whatever reason. They still get fanart and some secondary products once in a while, unlike the other Kabuto secondary Riders, aside from Gattack. The almost entirely negative reaction to them seems to be mostly a western fanbase situation.

wait what? People don't like the Hoppers? Man, I loved those guys! They were hilarious parodies of the dark n edgy angsty anti-hero archetypes, with their going up to random people and saying "I envy you..." and their awesomely absurd leather outfits, but at the same time they were charming and genuine as characters. Especially in one of the last episodes where the PunchHopper guy goes back to being TheBee and gets his ass whooped, and while KickHopper makes fun of him to his face he immediately goes out to kill the guys that messed with his partner. It was like "aww, he really does love him back" and it was awesome.

^ The Hoppers were completely useless to the story. All it did was prolong Kageyama and Yaguruma's existence when they had past their relevance. I frankly don't get how they're so popular.

And why would Riku give Yagu a Zecter after we saw him essentially get thrown out of ZECT before Drake's arrival?

Because he was actually working to undermine Zect and the Natives? Like I said, in the series itself, an angry Mishima first complains about not knowing about them and in a later scene accuses Riku of doing it. Later, we learn that Riku was actually attempting to fight against the natives, even if he seemed loyal. So, that always seemed like a logical conclusion to me...

Anyway, recently I've learned that the explanation I mentioned there was actually directly confirmed by the Kabuto "Super Complete Works" (Chouzenshuu), even including Riku's motivation. So, everything I said there is official.

Why is it that almost everything that needs explaining in Kabuto has to be sought out in some book or other source? This is stuff that should bein the show itself, not shrugged off in a "eh it's written here go find it" manner.

Yes, Riku was a double agent. But did Yagu actually do anything against ZECT? Or did he just find Kageyama whom he hated and spend the rest of the show being sorry excuses for "badass" anti-heroes who love each other? Yagu taking revenge against ZECT would have made sense as a plot for him once he returned; just give him back the Zabee Zecter and kill off Kageyama after he tries to get Reina to help him. But that never happened, and he joined Tsurugi and Daisuke in the "We're only here because Bandai wills it so" club.

My guess for why they got popular amongst the Japanese fans is probably because of their emo nature. I noticed that the Japanese like to have emo characters or dudes who dressed up similar to how the Hoppers dressed up. People said that Cloud from FF 7 seemed emo in Advent Children. Final Fantasy Versus XIII seems to have emo characters in there too. I really don't understand their taste.

He attacks Zect troops twice in his first battles as Kick Hopper (TheBee in his debut and a bunch of Zect troopers in the episode where Kageyama becomes Punch Hopper).

In general, the show just made Riku's whole indirect approach to fighting against the Natives turn out to be mostly useless in the end (Also including the Red Shoes system).

just give him back the Zabee Zecter and kill off Kageyama after he tries to get Reina to help him.

You're ignoring the qualifications necessary to be TheBee though. It was done in such a way that it was basically the only Rider always guaranteed to be following Zect's orders.
