His personality is like a car. It shifts.
His character is that he's laissez faire, but he'll step up when he's needed. When he wasn't Drive, he was just slacking off, but when he was given the responsibility of being Drive and Roidmudes started wreaking havoc, he started to own up to his role. When Gou is responsible, he takes a step back and lets Gou do the work. With Gou totally out of control, he takes a role to be his brakes. When Chaser isn't harming humans, he sympathizes with Chaser, taking a support to Kiriko's desire to reform him. When Chaser starts attacking humans, he vows to destroy him.
He switches on a dime, just like how he shifts to top gear almost instantly.
Drive gives him a purpose. It's his drive. I'm guessing his development in the future will be finding his purpose as himself, and not as Drive.
It does seem that we're going to get a lot more background with Shinnosuke soon.
I completely agree with your assessment of Shinnouseke. He's the type of character that requires outside stimuli to bring out the best of him. Some may find him boring, I've seen people saying that Chase, Gou, or Kiriko should have been the protagonist instead, but I like him a lot myself.
Shinnouske my favorite main Rider from the last 4 series (Fourze-Drive).
Shinnosuke is still pretty much lazy when there's no case. He still slacks off during the lull between cases. The responsibility of being Drive plus Roidmudes attacking nonstop makes it so it's rarely seen.
Yeah, he's easily my favorite character of the show. My second favorite main Rider of all time, so far (first being Gentaro).
Funny that when we have a main Rider who's hyperactive (Gentaro), he's "annoying". A force of nature (Tendou), it's still "annoying". And when we have a laid back Rider, do only what's necessary Rider, he's still "annoying".
NaH, Shinnosuke is much more recognizable. Its because he's so normal (Well, him and Kiriko). Its the polar opposite of how Gentarou is recognizable.
And Gentaro >>>>>> Right.
Daigo and Tendou are great in their own ways (and they're entirely different characters, so there's no comparison). Tendou is mostly selfish and sometimes kind, while Daigo would let his teammates shine if given the opportunity to.
In a series filled with characters with such obvious quirks, normal makes Shinnosuke recognizable.
Meh, you call Shinnosuke out for not standing out, but Right is even more "normal" in the context of the show he was in. That's why for me, he'll never be special. Not that he's bad, but he's just really nothing new or special. Heck, I think Arata is a vastly superior Red (in the context of his show) than Right is.
In a series filled with characters with such obvious quirks, normal makes Shinnosuke recognizable as background character. If he is not main rider, he can become Otta's partner and less screen make him more stand out.
Right is as unique as other character in his show. Kagura is closest to resemble him but she mostly chained by Mio. And other usually against his action make Right more stand out. But I never like them as individualist anyway but as group. That how they amuse me with their chattering.
In Gentaro case, they rarely do good job as opposition, mostly careless or even passively vote for him. I never like hyperactive character that much, especially in toku show, but atleast for me, Right is better to watch than Gentaro.
