but yeah, it's a kid's show, definitely not for teenager or adults to watch...

You're greatly exaggerating things.

There has never been a full on sex scene in Gundam. I think the closest you get to that is the scene in SEED between Flay and Kira that only suggests sex. And guess what? Parents hated that scene because there were a lot of kids in the audience, and this was with a series that did try to aim for a little more of a mainstream audience than usual. Both Gundam SEED shows, as well as both seasons of Gundam 00 and Age aired in the afternoon, when kids are watching. Not only that, but they aired in time frames which are considered prime time for family audience. Every Gundam series in the early 90s aired next to Sentai, so there is no way you can say those shows were adult.

In Japan there is also a difference between the notion of violence and realistic violence. It seems generally accepted in Japan that realistic portrayals of violence are more damaging to kids than typical animated violence. This is why shows that depict war machines are just fine but if your character happens to use an ax or dagger in the same week people are killed by a maniac in downtown Tokyo with the same weapons? You've gotta delay your episode.

I just feel that Gundam is being targeted to a younger demographic, which is fine and I understand why, just has lost my taste a little bit. I grew up watching Gundam Wing like most on Toonami, and it still rocks as my favorite series....well 00 is up next to it but still, those are standards I live up to. G Gundam I enjoyed as well, just not as much as Wing. Seed was really enjoyable for me to watched and I liked it a lot, never saw Seed Destiny, and 00 like stated before I enjoyed.

So I do believe it is more of a kids show now, just based on my enjoyments of the older series. It is a new generation so it is being aimed at to a younger demographic with younger pilots and main characters with younger companions. Age did nothing for me, and with the new series Build Fighters, I see the same thing.

Just cause it is a kids show, doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable for some older than the demographic being aimed at. Just for some fans, like myself, it doesn't fit our taste.

shounen is for ages 13 and up. and besides bleach and yu yu hakusho were in shonen jump. are you saying those are for kids too. the stories are too complex for little kids. hunter x hunter the anime is moving to late nights and it is in shonen jump. shonen jump manga is for teens.

I think you might be comparing the standards of whatever country you live in to Japan's standards. Cause Japan's standards are totally cool with that stuff being for kids.

If Gundam Sousei is to be believed, the first Gundam series is pitched as a kids show but Tomino didn't tell Bandai about the "space opera" script he had for it. It is still made to be a show that kids can enjoy and it attracted the older audiences with its story and drama. And I think that's also the case with most of the succeeding shows.

As mentioned previously in this thread, shonen manga include furigana (pronounciation guide). If that;s true, then they're definitely written with children in mind, as this kind of thing is more common in kids' media (or books for people who aren't good at Japanese).

Do you actually sneak into Japanese houses to randomly look at what video games they have? How would you know what video games anybody has? (And I'm pretty sure you're wrong about who buys what games unless you actually have a source to back this up).

I was also always under the impression that Gundam shows are designed to have at least 1 mech battle per episode even if it doesn't make sense just to adapt to people with shorter attention spans (i.e. kids).

How do you know that we don't see kids with WSJ products? If you watch the weekend morning shows ads on Keyhole, you'll see Naruto and One Piece ads, too. Plus Saint Seiya airs on a morning slot, and so does stuff like Yugioh and Pokemon.
