Is Bruce all that bad?

We, really, can't blame it all on Kalysh. To a certain level, it is Disney and the parents who run PR. Kalish would write action/content-full episode, but it is The Disney suits and lawyers the ones re-editing the story-lines and episodes to teeny-bopper levels that pleases the parents who buy all PR merch for their kids. Kalysh should have the 'Fall guy' tittle under "Producer/writer."

PR is a merch factory, and Disney ain't gonna sell squat to parents who think PR is not appropriate for their toddlers. They have to keep the parents happy.

Bruce and Greg fought the Disney suits to have the stuff we take for granted on SPD. The suits would just reply with, "Well, it is just power Rangers, so who cares?"

In the end, it is what Disney wants him to do, not what we want. They will do the same with the next producer. Hopefully, the next producer won't be a drone suit. Fans will miss Kalysh.

Dekaranger/SPD were tough acts to follow, and MysticForce, with its Harry Potter-inspired concept, was just not going to cut it. We went from full-loaded High-tech Sci-fi rangers to cape-wearing rangers with magic. Lame.

But, I can't really blame Kalysh for mysticForce. He was stuck with Magiranger. I would have quit and leave on the High note SPD left.

I've said this before, but I really feel like, at first, they were really passionate about doing this show, but partway through SPD, they just gave up, and never really tried after that. OO was probably the closest they got to actually putting in some type of real effort, but we all know how panned that season was.

JF is definitely the most apathetic. The villains are all horrible (GRUMM was a better villain than Dai Shi. GRUMM!), the storyline barely makes any sense, and most of the characters don't do anything. And the scabs are not better because, at first, the scab episodes were pretty good (we finally got explanations for why Dai Shi is so weak and Flit's... existence), but after that, the show has become even more mediocre than it was before.

Completely agree with what Buzz said...I feel like it's 60% Disney's fault, and 40% Bruce's. If he had more leeway I'm sure it would be a bit more enjoyable, but who knows how much pressure the Mouse puts on him to have the show a certain way? I'm sure that it's high. So no, I don't completely blame Bruce, just partly.

I don't think Bruce is as bad as many people make him out to be. I feel that most of the hardcore fans are just outgrowing it. Myself included. I feel that people are just looking for an excuse for why they're no longer interested. And maybe a new EP will breathe some new life into things, but I'm not holding out too much hope.

You know, those people who say we bitch because we're outgrowing PR piss me off. We have men here watching Sentai (which, thanks to Bruce and Disney is the same show with "70% less asians") into their 30's and 40s.

The problem is the shows. They're not inspiring that same sense of exitement... and as I've said repeatedly, I feel it's because of the continued escalation of armament and loss of original ideas. I've read that the writers haven't been able to think of original ideas since the turn of the century and have been cannibalising their old ideas and American PR for ideas

Does this let Kalish off the hook, No! I still think he coincides too much with the decline of PR for it to not be connected to him. He could've looked Disney S&P in the eye and told them that he was going to prove that he could make a superior season that could still be watchable for the whole family without pandering, but he didn't. He decided to NOT WATCH PR and just go on with his own ideas.

As for Disney. They own a lot of labels by which they could have marketed Power Rangers, like Buena Vista or others, but they wanted to sell toys, in the end biting their own ass by not realizing that PR is more than an excuse to sell toys
