Before Toei gave us the awful Hibiki, causing them to give us Rider the First since Hibiki blows so bad, I always thought they should remake Zubat, but "darker," with Hagino as Hayakawa. I love Zubat, it's Miyauchi's best role and the humor is fun, but that show could have really gone places, but they stuck to the same damn formula in each episode.
I'm not saying Hagino's an icon like Miyauchi, either, but...damn it, don't they look alike? I was flipping through a sentai book and there was this still of Miyauchi from Goranger and he reminded me of Hagino! Hagino's at least a capable actor, which can't be said about half of the nitwits working in tokusatsu today.

I jokingly chose Hagino because ever since Ouja, he seems to be typecast as playing "quirky badass" characters. Well, okay, the only post-Ouja thing I saw was him in Evolver, but he's basically like Asakura 2.0- he even talks the same way, except throws in the occasional Engrish, and he's a little more menacing because he cruises around on a chopper. He's a good actor, but I hope the next thing he's in gives him a really different kind of role, like more of a straight-up hero or villain.
Even though it's basically the same damn thing every episode, Zubat's repetitive formula is kind of charming, because you always know what's going to happen and Miyauchi still surprises you with his wackiness. I just wish the ending had been a little more planned out in advance- Chiba Jiro's cool, but the ultimate villain should have been someone who was in the show for more than an episode.
