I have another question guys...

Just finished Boukenger and.... Wow... THE MECHAS WERE AWESOME!!!

So, there was a plot, but the plot is... not like a plot, but it's a fun show. Considering the situations they get in. Zubaan is kinda like DaiGoYou... And I just wished that DaiGoYou became human sized... with arms anyway.

So, while waiting 2 weeks for new Shinkenger... I've decided to watch Dekaranger.

And again, I ask... What are its pros and cons?

Thanks again guys!

Pros: Hm.........................................
......................................

........................................................................................

Interesting setting? That's really all there is.

Cons: Annoying characters doing annoying things; Lack of a major recurring antagonist group (that could have been used like in Exceedraft, I believe, or even CSI: Miami) Given Deka'a setting, a case-by-case show with little connectivity makes sense. But there still needed to be some kind of special case that catches them off guard.

And enemy mechas that leave something to be desired.

So in conclusion: you're better off watching something else.

Good

-Good cast of characters with very distinct personalities (if you aren't bothered by the style of the "screaming red" series).

The only weak link probably is Dekabreak, the official 6th Ranger here, who pretty much became just bland after he lost his "smiling arrogance" attitude.

-Good use of the police theme and Sentai's inherent episodic structure, with the focus on case by case basis, without letting the criminals be constantly overshadowed by some bigger threat. They also use the fact that the Dekas are basically forced to kill criminals for some good effect in a few episodes, although it never became a recurring theme.

-Good mecha design for the Dekas themselves, without the clusterfucks common these days. The suits of Deka's robos also generally actually incorporated movable knees in their designs, so there wasn't as much goofy "knee bending" as in most older series (besides the Dekabase).

Bad

-The suits of the aliens are generally really bad. I don't know what happened here, but most previous series involving aliens had much better designs. They even took 10 episodes or so to get a suit with a movable mouth for the commander.

-Sometimes they go overboard with silly humor, but it's not as frequent as in Magiranger or Go-onger.

Well, thanks! I'm still getting episode 2 right now... So... Maybe I'll try finishing it, and see it for myself... Hadn't seen this one yet. I honestly didn't like PR SPD that much, that's why I made Deka a choice to see how Super Sentai did it.... Thank you so much!

So in conclusion: you're better off watching something else.

If I give up on Deka along the way, can you suggest other Super Sentai shows? Thanks in advance!

^Oh yeah, actually I was planning to see Magi after Deka. Is it that good like other people say? Some people say it was overrated or so...

Magi is one of the most overrated tokus around.

If I give up on Deka along the way, can you suggest other Super Sentai shows? Thanks in advance!

Bolded ones in particular.

Dekaranger is fun, it may be episodic and hardly has any plot, but they're enjoyable and not boring episodic like Boukenger's.
Magiranger is good in terms of story plot and it has a stronger family theme than Fiveman and GoGoFive.
