I feel like all Asians (including myself) have just been sent back ten years.

I dont think it was that Asian's like eating dog meat...more so that the countries are over populated, the majority of people are poor, and they can't afford to buy proper meat.

So that, combined with the fact that there are ALOT of stray cats and dogs...well, you get the picture.

Proper meat? :eyebrow:
No such thing. Meat is meat no matter what.

Just about any animal is edible, if you try hard enough. If cooked properly any sort of meat can and will taste good. Anything from elephant, cat, monkey, and even bears.

^ Bear meat is poisonous to humans, so you shouldn't be eating them.

Everyone needs to remember that for the small groups of people that DO eat dog meat, it's perfectly normal for them. It's weird/disgusting to us because we have a different perspective on things compared to them. There are no "right/correct/proper" or "wrong/incorrect/improper" sides here. They're just different.

Just to provide another perspective, think about this. In India, a large percentage of people there practice the Hindu religion. In this religion, they're told they're not supposed to eat cows (i.e. beef) because the cow is a sacred animal. Now knowing that, looking at things from the Hindu perspective, how do you think THEY react when they see the rest of the world eating hamburgers, steaks, beef wellington and szechwan beef stirfry?

It's called tolerance everyone. Just because our western perspective on things say one thing doesn't mean that it's necessarily right. Remember to be open-minded about things. You don't have to like things that are different. Just accept the fact that they ARE different.

K.

are you mad at me? If you are, sorry.

Oh no no, I'm not mad at you!

I've just always hated that stupid stereotype. And JFC is right, in certain areas, it's okay to eat one type of animal, and not okay to eat another.

I was merely pointing out that it was more likely they ate cats and dogs due to lack of money.

And after doing some research, I can conclude, bear meat is edible(depending on season and which origins) and IS delicious.

I'll be making my stop at a fancy Asian restaurant and publicly telecasting me eating bear meat to protest the cruelty to bears!

don't expect to find one that will serve meat, and if i remember correctly there aren't any bears in asia

^ Panda bears in China, polar bears in the extreme northern parts of Russia, and Russian Black bears around the Siberian/Mongolian area of the continent.

I should have been a bit more clear in my other post. It's typically adult bear meat that's poisonous. If it's still young (e.x. a bear cub) then it's relatively "safe" to eat. It also depends on the actual species of bear and what it eats. For example, panda bears in China almost exclusively eat bamboo, and nothing but bamboo. Their meat would be relatively safer to eat compared to a North America Black bear, who eats pretty much whatever it can get it's hands on (berries, fish, leaves, etc). As for whether it tastes good or not...I'll reserve judgement for the time being.
