Hurricanger, 10 years after : your thoughts?

I guess I was more disturbed by the "Hero(es) pretending to be evil" plot than the glaring mistakes the heroes have done earlier in the movie. but I wouldn't say they were idiots. you have to understand that when Tenkai was grabbed by the monster, Yousuke didn't have his changer nor a weapon, so what else could he have done at the time other than agreeing to do evil deeds for the enemy? also, Nanami and Kouta weren't aware that the monster blended onto Yousuke's back when they were bringing him in. I would say it was stupider for them to actually have the changers FLOATING above their heads in that white dimensional space instead of having them strapped on throughout.

The "pretend I'm evil" plot was lame, and I was hoping for a much more interesting story for a 10 year later movie. I was really disappointed when a good 2/5ths of the movie were just a bunch of flashbacks.

I was fine with the final battle, but I wish the original Shurikenger came back instead of having that kid replace him.

Overall... It was fun to see the Hurricangers return with the original cast. That much I can give it. I like the idea of having older series return and I'd love to see it happen more in the future.

Considering that the staff of Hurricanger made this movie possible, I'm sure they had fun and you know what? For a movie like this, made by producers and actors who love their own show enough to pitch a sequel, I think that's what matters. Sure looks like they enjoyed it.

Also loved their dance in the Kyoryuger episode last week, just sayin'

I found the integration of Junretsu into what Ikkou's been up to a bit clumsy, but maybe it will fit better later in retrospect...

Isshu's portrayal was kind of interesting. As far as his portrayal has gone throughout the character's appearances, one thing that I felt really set him apart was his "bad guy voice" that had a very distinct smugness to it. After losing that he kind of blended in a lot more and I noticed in the end game episodes his actor seemed to go for a "macho voice" that I think came off a bit tryhard. From a preview vid I thought he'd go for that again but it seems like an entirely new inflection was used.

But overall I'm glad this happened. Between this, the Gokaichanges in the VS movie and the Akibaranger appearances it's been a good time for this Hurricaneger fan.

I did like the movie, but aside from the complaint from the others that Shurikenger had no gratuitous English, the only annoyances I encountered were:
1. No Mecha battle (no one complained about it, so here you go)
2. The opening song/ending song could have been at least the ending from Shushuuto the movie instead
Other than that, not bad.

Hurricaneger: 10 Years After - Talkback

Watched it and loved it. 1 issue I had was with what the Gouraijer team is up to these days but other than that, a great 50 minute movie.

The Shurikenger fight scene (the kid) is easily THE BEST fight scene in anything with the last several years and I'm sure you all will agree with me if you don't already.

****, that kid (Shurikenger) has more skill than the entire fucking cast of Sentai for the past 20 years, no lie.

If anything the fight scene alone is worth checking.

Faburijo has aged really well too.
