Hugo Weaving as Megatron

I'm not happy with the choice either. If that thing they're trying to pass off as Megatron looked or acted anything like any self-respecting Megatron, I'd settle for any voice actor (heck, before the leaked scripts and the concept designs, I didn't mind having freaking Tom Hanks as Prime), but after the number of screw-ups they've thrown in my face, they need something to make me go watch it, as a fan anyway. And they didn't want Welker? Get Kaye.

By the way, how many projects is Weaving credited in as a VA? I mean, the guy's an awesome actor, but VA is somewhat different.

According to Imdb.com he doesn't look like he has much, if any, resume as a VA.

My take on this is that's its Stunt casting again.

They, Speilberg and Bay, thought they had appeased the fans by casting Cullen but needed someone A)they knew was a 'name' and could draw and B)wouldn't piss off the entire like say casting FPjr would have.

The problem with this approach I find, is A, because casting a guy for his marketability over a better actor is not the way to go with this project.

In the end they could have had Cullen or Welker (who's by and large considered a living legend in hollywood and there's a clip of him on Youtube doing Curious George) but not both.

So for me, I've got yet another reason to not watch this movie and not buy ANY of the toys. It joins the list of:

-Annonying focus on annoying human characters played by bad actors (Tyreese).
-Bumblebee.
-"Realism" Which does not belong in a movie about giant transforming robots in my opinion.
-And the inevitable dance scene where you see the Autobots dancing to 'Whip it'.

I'll be saving a lot of money when this comes out.

Not that I give half a **** about some tranformants, but why would Hugo Weaving get casted for stunts?

And pretty much his entire role in V For Vendetta was voice acting.

He's not being casted for stunts per se.

I think and let me emphasize again, this is only my opinion but I think Weaving was cast for two reasons:

1)He's a 'name' that the general public would know and could do a lot of press work for the movie.

2)He's just non-mainstreamish enough to where the fans won't go completely nuts about his casting. Years ago, word was going around that Funi was going to get Freddie Prinze Jr. involved with DB and the DB fandom went ballistic in response. I mean just bonkers. Needless to say they backed off that idea and went elsewhere but the point still remains. Another example would be the fan reaction to news that one of the boy bands had filmed footage for use in the new Star Wars movies as I recall.

Fans wanted Cullen and Welker but only going to get Cullen who is using a deeper voice for the movie. Again, I'm not liking what they did and are doing but I'm not going to spend money on anything related to the movie so it's a moot point to me.

I'm actually pleased with this casting, sure Welker would have been nice but we got Cullen for Prime. I want to see how Weaving will portray Megs.

The truth is Bay never wanted Welker to begin with. Since the start when he was asked about Welker as Megatron, he was obviously showing his feelings on the subject, while at the same time trying to not be definitive, because he knew the fans' uproar.

I would not be surprised if that was true.

Now is anyone going to get the transforming Shoe?
