How many minions do they use in a Sentai Series?

This has been on mind lately. About how many actors do they hire to play the role of minions in a sentai series?

There was a Japan Action Club. I don't know what happened to it.

What exactly do you mean, like if every grunt is a diff actor, or every monster the main badguy makes is a diff actor?

For the grunts, I'd say they have 2 or 3, then the rest are just added in with special effects.

& with the monsters, they probably use the same guy often, you may be able to check & see something somewhere for suit actors in sentai for the villains.

I always figured that they just went around asking people if they wanted to make a few bucks or hired from a stunt union.

They probably would have at least 20-25 if you figure it's 3-5 vs 1 in most fight scenes for a 5/7 person team that'd make the most sense.

I'm thinking that they have 3-5 maybe 6 grunts who are actual stuntsmen in a single scene, while the rests are just extras in costumes. Usually a shot only have that many grunts being struck or doing battle at the same time. The others just stand back or run around.

The suit actor/stuntpeople for sentai/kamen rider are from Japan Action Enterprise(abbreviated to JAE), which used to be known as Japan Action Club(JAC). JAC changed their name to JAE in 2004.

You can see how many stunt people they use by looking at the number of names under ジャパンアクションエンタープライズ in the openings. I doubt all of them do the actual suit acting though, some might work as action stunt coordinators behind the camera or something like playing an extra or body double who's put in a eg, too dangerous situation for normal actors...

Don't forget the voice actors as well. When the minions and monsters talk, it's usually dubbed by voice actors in the studio.

I'd say about 2 actors for the monsters(though this applies to the heroes too)- one suit actor, one voice actor(eg, Yogostein in Go-onger) or one human form actor, unless there's something happen to the characters in the show like body-switching or possession.

I think it's pretty much just a dozen of the lesser known JAE/RAC suit actors. (I don't even think they get credited). For example, Hirofumi Fukuzawa (who now plays most of the new sentai Reds in-suit) has said he got his start playing minions in Turboranger...

So, today's minions just may be tomorrow's heroes. :laugh:
