How COULD Disney Americanise Shinkenger?

Adapting Shinkenger would actually be A LOT easier than turning Go-Onger into a post-apocalyptic epic..

The powers could have their origins in ancient Japan from the backdrop of an epic war... only to be rediscovered in the modern day.

The villains could be supernatural/ghosts; the living undead of that war.

I'd also add the element of the rangers being the protectors of an ancient gateway (think Stargate) that is the path to other realms.

My last post of this day and I'll ban myself till the morning
This is perfect! Doing that like this just makes history in the books come back to life.

I say a post Sengoku period would do.
Red Ranger's ancestor= Tokugawa Ieyasu
Blue Ranger's ancestor= Date Masamune (Dokuganryu no Oshu)
Green Ranger's ancestor= Mori Motonari
Pink Ranger's ancestor= Oichi
Yellow Ranger's ancestor= Matsu (Maeda Keiji's sister)
Gold Ranger's ancestor= Musashi Miyamoto

Works right?

Showa/Saban
This is kinda irritating me. Repeating what Real Action said: those are the time periods that emperors reigned. Heck, the Showa period was already over during the time Saban first kicked the Power Rangers into motion. Don't call them Showa and Heisei please. Also, Power Rangers is going to chill next year so I don't think they need to Americanize anything. Though, I don't really see a problem with keeping some Japanese things. It's about samurai. Though randomly making the rangers ancestors of historical people is a tad too much considering the actors will be kinda non-Asian and all.

I said the powers would have origins in Ancient Japan; not the rangers themselves.

I'd avoid the ancestor thing (or at least perhaps limit it to one ranger who's an ancestor of someone important).

I'd roughly characterize the rangers like this:

Red (Caucasian): An orphan raised by the monks since he was a child. His parents (archeologists) were researchers of the ancient element symbols and were killed for their knowledge. He was trained by the monks in the arts of the ancient masters.

Blue (Asian): Red's rival, descendant of the ancient masters and feels the leadership position is his birthright. Regards Red as an outsider who has no business being chosen to protect the Gateway.

Pink (Asian): The beautiful and highly intelligent daughter of the master that Blue and Red are both fighting over.

Green ( Caucasian): A renegade, mercenary and spy. Despite being under the guise of a simple gardener, he has a shady (possibly criminal) mysterious history as a spy and warrior. He knows when to cross the line. Think Garak from DS9.

Yellow (Caucasian): An exotic warrior princess from another realm. A mix of Kitana (from Mortal Kombat) and Dulcea.

So i really wonder how they are going to put white men into Shinkenger's shoes without making them look like weeaboos
Okay...

1 - Can we stop using the word "Weeaboos" to describe Western people who are into Japanese culture? It's a stupid word that doesn't even mean anything.

I thought the news were that Disney decided to stop PR with RPM being last...they will continue making their toys but i heard that they wont do an adaption...

2 - There is no official news that Power Rangers is over, the only time we'll officially know is next year. As for me I don't even care if Power Rangers will even be continuing in say... 2021 because I'm just not going to watch it.

Do you people that insist on using the term "weeaboo" realize how damn stupid you look every time you say it?

Showa era was already over when Power ranger was made, man dude get your facts straight....

Guys, guys............. I have to say you're being snobs about this. It's just a word. As humans we assign our own meaning to these words.

So, if you were one that was easy going and relaxed you COULD nickname Saban's era the Showa Era and the Disney as the Heisei Era, as an homage to Classic versus Modern eras.

It's not that much of a stretch.

As for Showa versus Heisei.... it will no doubt flip your **** that I didn't know this was in reference to.............. emperors? Japan still has.... emperors???

I thought it was in reference to lead producers or something. :sly:
