I saw the 1st Season of Haruhi a while back and it was OK. Didn't really blew me away but it has its entertainment value. The only reason why it interests me was because of a gif animation of the dance scene that I saw in one of the forums I used to go to.
I think the real issue of Haruhi is the fans give it too much praise of being "innovative" and "best anime of all time" (at least that's what some people say in the anime club in my old high school used to say)
I believe the real issue with most anime these days is that it's all fan service and no real story to tell. The producers do this so that fans have a reason to buy the DVDs.
Has Sankaku Complex ruined anime community?
Oh you better bet it did.
Does the banter quoted in the article explain anything or is it just emotional ranting and obvious trolling? Interesting question. The answer is yes. Most "otaku" wouldn't even look at really good late-night anime. Have these sad people heard of Natsu no Arashi!? Didn't think so.
