Groom shot to death by police

did... did you guys even read the article?

This is far from an "innocent man being killed" scenario. **** went down. It's too early to assume that Bell was completely innocent in any wrong doing. And if he is, this is no excuse to blast cops for any wrong-doing. They werent out to slam an innocent man. They overheard some things, one of them got struck down, they opened fire. But the investigation is still going on.

even then would 50 shots be justifiable especially since everyone of the men were unarmed? i kno that they were dumb to strike a police officer, but you arrest someone for that not unload 50 shots on an unarmed three man party. one shot is enough to get their attention, 50 shots is like a short drive by

A warning shot over the head should have been enough to get their attention but pumping 50 or more shots into a car which contained 3 unarmed men no matter what the rights or wrongs of the situation, that's definitely wrong...

If there's riots on the streets of NYC, I wouldn't be too surprised if Bloomberg and the New York's Police Commissioner ended up losing their jobs over this eventually when the time comes for the voting for the new Mayor and Police Commissioner considering all the controversy this incident has caused especially all over the world, and what's the odds it's going to affect tourism pretty badly in the city as a result as well...

I know, I know. But let me point out a couple things:

1) There was mention that suspects might have had a gun at the time. Try putting yourself in a Police officer's shoes. You're always paranoid today might be the day you are caught in a dangerous situation. You hear a man might have a gun (through the suspect's own words of discussing a gun or type of weapon), then an officer is struck by a vehicle. They discovered later the "victim" wasnt armed, but would YOU have taken that chance as an officer? Would YOU ask questions when you got one-down and shots fired? One cop opened fire, then others dont know where that fire is coming from. They might think it's coming from the "suspects". So the other officers open fire in reaction. You can't tell me the reaction isn't justifiable in some sense.

2) Those 50 shots were not at point blank. They were firing at a vehicle, really. One that kept speeding away and slammed into another officer's vehicle at the end of it! You make it sound like they clearly saw their target and fired on him after assessing the situation fully. They didn't. **** went down and the investigation is pending. They werent putting 50 bullets in a clear target. Hindsight is 20/20 but forsight... That's a whole 'nother ballgame.

I'm not saying the cops didnt F-up. I'm saying I don't know what really went down, there's an investigation going into it. I do know that some people love to jump to conclusions too easily and assume the worst. Not all cops are haters and racists. You people seem to be forgetting this car hit two police vehicles and an officer. This was not a one way street

Regardless of the circumstances behind this event, GrnPsychoGarren is absolutely right. Causing riots over **** like this is not going to solve any problems, it's only going to make matters worse.

Bill Cosby said it best: " . . . These are not political criminals. These are people going around stealing Coca Cola. People getting shot in the back of the head over a piece of pound cake! Then we all run out and are outraged, 'The cops shouldn’t have shot him.' What the hell was he doing with the pound cake in his hand?"

after analysing the situation through several newspaper and online reports, I conclude that no shots are needed to be fired to handle a case like this.

NYPD had better review their ROE, refine officers' situational awareness or raise standards of the entrance psychological tests. heck, just do all three.

This story below is about a boy that robbed two PS3s and was shot to death by police because they think he had a controller in his hand but was mistaken for a gun when he answered the door. They killed the dog, too. Maybe they were afraid it was going to attack them.:redface2:

Where I used to live I've seen some police do some shady things. They even searched my house one time looking for someone and asking me if I knew this person. I didn't, but I got the suspicion that they thought I was lying because they kept asking me the same questions over and over. It's very intimidating when you have three 6 foot 5 inch guys with booming voices and instruments of death strapped to their waists, hands at the ready, standing around you while another one is off in another room doing who knows what. Good thing I've never done anything illegal.

One time a cop asked me if I was harboring a fugitive of the law, and I was like "YES" and stomped on his foot, and then ripped his groin off and threw it at the other cops and they were like "Let's get outta here Jim Bob, this guy ain't right!"
