GOEMON ~Movie~ 2009 "Watch the damn trailer!!!"

Wat. You crazy man.

Wait a minute, what exactly DOES Yatterman have to do with Goemon? Why the hell are we comparing the two?

Goemon looks just exactly Casshern now, Kazuaki Kiriya is well on his way to becoming the Frank Miller of Japan. The overly grimdark style and shaky plot of Casshern was decent I'll give you that but its something that shouldn't really be done if you can't put together a decent story. Now he's pretty much took Goemon, applied everything that was Casshern into this, copy paste, repeat. Casshern clone much. Kind of like what Frank Miller attempted to pull of with the Spirit (ala using Sin City).

Two big name toku related movies released relatively close to one another?

...don't think so.

I'm honestly not too interested in this movie, I want it to be good because it's damn pleasing, at least aesthetically, but it took me three viewings before I could actually get through Casshern. That movie was just one big mess of unintelligible eye candy.

Yatterman definitely looks like the better movie, something that won't take itself too seriously and knows how to have fun.

Goemon looks like its about a ninja. Who knows if this movie is based off of that movie.

It's not a jidai eiga.... That movie is nothing close to what is considered jidai eiga. Shinobi is closer to jidai eiga then this.

Ishikawa Goemon is a ninja and the Robin Hood of Japan, regarded as a folk hero as there is little historical info on his life.

To note, Lupin the 3rd series uses the man as the grandfather of one of its main characters.

Monkey Punch also got sued by the original creator of Lupin for copy right infringement but I think the copyright had expired and Monkey Punch got off.
