Go-Busters and Timeranger; two experiments gone wrong?

I agree with Liquid Chris Sentai. Timeranger is a very character-driven story, every member of the team has a long personal arc and you can easily see how each one of them develop and grow through the year.
It is really annoying how character development episodes are often dismissed as fillers, especially when many times they add more than some episodes introducing new toys.

No sentai is 100% filler-free, of course. But the fact that one episode feels so out of place compared to the rest of the series is proof that Timeranger really didn't use to waste time on useless fillers..

i just think that's how kids view these shows now as a toy driven show, just like gaoranger through gokaiger, they backed off on it with gobusters and the ratings are really bad because kids dont want to watch boring character fillers, they want toys, i mean adults probably love it, even me, but kids dont see it that way, they watch it for the action and buy more toys, with the lack of that, they wont watch it.

It's those episodes that touches upon their Tomorrows Research. Without episodes like those, Timeranger wouldn't have a sense of humor and we would be saying stuff about how we wish Tomorrows Research was played upon more often.

If there is anything I wish Timeranger would play upon more, it's the Assault Mobile. There was more to that thing than what the show showed us. They're not just five attachments for the Spark Vector, they become a blaster by itself. Which goes to show that the weapon is like the Kankanbar from Go-Onger. It's really a blaster made personally for red that can combine with the side-arm to produce an even stronger weapon. The five attachments even grow to become vehicles.

Just wanted to clear a misunderstanding; given the threads I've been beginning, I guess people on HJU assume I'm "Go-Busters" hater n°1.
In fact, that's not true; Go-Busters was more frustrating than anything, because it had a very interesting material, but didn't use its potential in a good way. That doesn't lessen its good points. And after watching episode 34, I feel that there is an improvement storytelling wise: the "4-quarter toy" arc is pretty well done, with a nice continuous story, and the fact that the big fight in hyperspace happened mid-season brings nice character development for our heroes; and I can safely say that Enter is one of the best main sentai villains (Basco only appeared in 11 episodes, so he was more a supporting villain) since Gekiranger. And the appearance of the Lion Buddyzord at the end of episode 34 was done in a pretty effective way. If Go-Busters remains that way, it can be a pretty nicely done sentai series, with a slow beginning, but a fine second half (pretty much like Timeranger was (Kobayashi, will you ever learn :laugh: )). I'm not giving up hope yet. But I hope Escape is gonna have more development; so far, she's not doing a lot, but I hope that the growing tensions between her and Enter are gonna bring some material for her.

Fair enough, but don't you think it would have made more sense to just post a thread about how go-busters can improve, or just post in the episode discusion instead of going "Go-busters is one of the worst senties."

Effective in that it hijacked the show's automobile driving it straight to money money, Bandai-ville? Sure, I'd agree with that.

Seriously though, it'd be like if in Gaoranger -- Gao Gorilla just, instead of being summoned like it was, started photobombing the fight and one-shotted the Org monster. Or if, any of the Dino eggs (from Aba) just hatched off-screen and jumped onto Abaren-oh's arms or legs with no warning given. It'd be extremely awkward.

At the time I've begun that thread, I was almost desperate about Go-Busters; that series had dreadful storytelling, and I had no reason to think it was gonna improve, especially since storytelling wasn't Kobayashi's strong point

Perhaps, but at least it showed that Enter's plan was pretty effective; if not for Tategami Raioh's appearance, the heroes would have lost the fight; besides, the next episode is gonna bring more info about it; lastly, the new mecha hasn't done a "Gattai" with the other mechas; it just appeared and acted by itself.

Filler is a word that just needs to die. Why? Because this isn't some animated adaptation of some Shonen Jump comic. I'd rather they be called standalone episodes or episodic. Super Sentai was made to have these kinds of episodes. They help develop the characters, they teach us new things, and they play upon things (like the 22nd Timeranger episode playing upon their Tomorrows Research). If I wanted to watch a show where I would complain about filler, I would watch Dragon Ball Z. Filler is a word that gets overused to the point that Linkara called that episode of Power Rangers Wild Force where they get the Falcon Wildzord a filler. I won't be surprised if people complained about how shows like Full House or Saved by the Bell suck because they're too much filler episodes. There will be Sentai series that are episodic. Hell, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a whole is episodic.

if not for Tategami Raioh's appearance, the heroes would have lost the fight;

As much as it's nice to see the heroes win, wouldn't them losing show that they had more of a need for the new robot?

lastly, the new mecha hasn't done a "Gattai" with the other mechas; it just appeared and acted by itself.

Yeah, the last part's part of my problem with it. >>
