Apparently, the Shout! Factory release of the original Gamera did well enough that they have been encouraged to release more of them on DVD.

Gamera VS Barugon is next, with Gamera VS Gurion and Gamera VS Jiger to follow in a Double Feature release, and Gamera VS Gyaos and Gamera VS Viras to also be getting the Double Feature treatment.

No word on Gamera VS Zigra and Gamera: Super Monster at this time.

:buttrock: ...and as bad as Zigra and Super Monster are ... I still NEED/WANT them subbed to complete my Gamera fix  ...especially Super Monster , since they skipped subbing on the R2's even ugh.

Yeah, I went out and bought the first Gamera release last week. I don't know why Barugon is getting its own single disc release. I'd rather they paired up Barugon and Gyaos on a double and then put Zigra on the Viras disc. The first 3 Gamera films (Gamera, Barugon & Gyaos) are not my favorite. For my money, the series got mind-blowingly cool and fun when it switched into super wild, imaginative and colorful kid's sci-fi fantasy mode with Viras, Guiron, Jiger and Zigra. I'd happily pay for a single disc edition of each of those four amazing wonders!

Are you kidding, Zigra's awesome fun! Who knew Gamera could play the drums! With Super Monster though, I wish they would have just gone ahead and made a completely new bargain basement 80's Gamera film with whatever little money they did have instead of a stock footage frame-up. Although, if you were a kid and hadn't seen any of the other Gamera movies, Super Monster would probably blow your little mind. There's a pretty good quality print of SM on this Elvira DVD set (you can watch it without the Elvira interludes if you want).

I didn't say Zigra wasn't still 'fun', just said it's bad. It is bad hahah. But yes I still find it enjoyable. As for Super Monster, I have the Elvira disc. I have the R2. I have a subbed copy, looks more like dubtitles with a few diff words here and there and I have a custom made (by yours truly) R2 disc with dual audio (ENG/JP) and those subs. Now I want a "professionally" subbed version :buttrock: Sort of wish Shout Factory did dual audio , would be awesome

I hope all their discs are single releases, as I want them to squeeze as much video quality as possible into the releases. I'm not fond of the 2 movies on 1 disc format :disappoin ...or at least I hope to god they're not thinking of going that route. If they do 'double' release it better be 2 discs.

I thought they had plans to do them all anyways, as long as they could find good enough prints, not on a "sell well and we do more" basis? ...and seeing that this release is only 2 months after the first , I can't see them going 1 month later, oh look!! great sales!!! ..and start doing production, translating, and all other work going into them and having it ready in a month or less time:eyebrow:
