Frustrated over trying to buy the perfect laptop!

You mentioned dedicated graphs card so you probably put some thought into this already, but if you're getting a machine with vista make sure it's at least 2G ram or upgradeable to that

Are you doing website design for school / work or just as a hobby? If the earlier then make sure you got big enough resolution for the screen (1900x or above preferrable)

Whenever you decide on a model always google it for reviews and try adding "sucks" to your google search so that you can anticipate whatever problems are coming for that brand / model.

My laptop would be used for a mixture of website design as in designing websites for fun as well as CafePress-based ones plus it would be used for study purposes as in using it to study for my CCNA exams via reference materials running on it.

I don't think I could trust eBay for buying a laptop; PSP's and other items, yes... Laptops, no.

I think I'm going to be poor at this rate if I'm going to include 4GB of RAM in this laptop! [I'll probably go for buying the laptop in the form of one with 2GB then upgrade it with 2GB of RAM from elsewhere as it would be cheaper than doing it when buying the laptop at the same time]

ASUS F7KR-X1 is the laptop concerned and even tho it's a AMD laptop instead of a Core 2 Duo, the processor is still the same equivalent as a Core 2 Duo plus I get a 17-inch Wide XGA+ screen, decent-sized hard drive and a 256MB dedicated graphics card as well all for $799.99...:buttrock:

I'd like to hear what some of you guys think of it?

Not bad :thumbs: The finishing looks great and the screen look wide, even wider than my laptop's screen ... and with everything that u ever wanted and with a good price to boot, its definitely a good buy for u ...

I know for a fact that ASUS is the maker of the cheap, small laptop, EEE pc that i am dying myself to buy ...

I checked the resolution and even tho it's slightly lower than what I'm looking for, I can't complain at the price especially as something equivalent to this would probably cost about £600 or more in the UK which is why I'm planning on getting it from the UK in the first place as I know laptops are a lot cheaper than in the US...

Also, I was told on the notebookforums website by the same person who recommended me this laptop that it should be upgradeable to 4GB RAM thanks to a BIOS upgrade and Windows Vista should run fine on 2GB of RAM in any case until I upgrade the RAM and BIOS...

Well, looks like I know what I'm hoping to get in a few weeks time...:anime:
