Food at its worst.

I was offered ikizukuri once, it's odd. I don't think it's that bad, but I don't much like raw fish in general, and it doesn't get much more raw than that.

Oh Faded...I can hear Chef Bourdain going *tsk tsk*.

Wooshy-wooshy gimme dat sushi! :buttrock:

The only dish from the first link that I'd probably have a problem with is the Ortolan, and that's only because of having to chew through the bones. Everything else...hell I'll probably try it once.

As for the second link with the restaurants, I probably wouldn't do the "Dinner in The Sky" one because I don't like heights. Wouldn't go to the "Roppongi" one either. Porking your pork isn't exactly my cup of tea.

Yeah, I'm interested in getting into food as well so I try to have an open mind but some of this stuff, geez. I had to take a break a couple times. I guess the only one I had a real problem with is the first one, the live fish. The video definitely did it in for me. The others, now I just know to avoid them if I'm abroad.

"Roppongi"... yeeeah, no. But hey, don't rule anything out if I've got that much money and I've been out drinking all night.

I kinda want to check out "Modern Toilet". I genuinely want to know about the food. In the video it looked pretty good, but I wonder if the quality is second fiddle to the niche environment.

It really isn't. Majority of what I've seen from that post really ain't bad compared to the stuff I've seen. OMG it's still moving! Food at it's worst? Ahhmm, not really...

The one that made me real sick was the Donkey one. That's fuckin' animal cruelity right there. Unlike the others, they just bluntly kill it and feed it to the customers. There was absolutely no form of 'cooking' involved; IT WAS JUST A SLAUGHTER.

Okay it earned itself some points for the live donkey dish :D That one is quite shocking but the rest? no dice. I've seen worse.

I have no problem with it though. I mean in some cultures, some might find it taboo to be eating something that others might find disgusting. The way the dish is prepared and served is also involved. I wouldn't go calling it worse, cause it's all based on culture so it's all cool to me.

Just because a culture has one way of doing things does not excuse animal cruelty. That's like saying it's ok to beat on women because the culture it is happening in is ok with it.

On topic... That stuff is nasty, but then people eat some messed up stuff.

Oh and I just have to add a couple links to your thread, cause this always gets people going. ;)

The collection seems genuinely interesting to me, I did not know there would be enough recipes to fill a book.

Wow!! cooking with semen? Looks good to be honest  This is why I don't ask the chef, "what's in it?"

Any of you guys tasted balot before? :anime: That's some taboo for you.

O_O

I...I...just...can't! It's still alive! *big puppy eyes with tears in them*

I think I'd have enough trouble KILLING an animal...which is so very hypocritical of me. But...I would do it.

But damn it I would do it FAST. NO PAIN.

And Barashin, Balut is so amateur :P
I think I'd try it.
