Looking around, I noticed that Fiveman through Zyuranger had no movie. Does anyone know why they never had any? I always found it odd that those three just randomly weren't given moves.
Well I dunno about Fiveman-Zyu, but after reading Shougo's response, I figured I'd add my two cents.
A Liveman movie not happening makes sense because Daisuke Shima and Megumi Mori were top idols of the time so scheduling stuff like that probably was a nightmare. Besides, the series does well on its own ^_^
Prolly why the Turboranger movie was made and Liveman once again getting the short end of the stick (most underrated Sentai of all time IMO, not even enough coverage in the Timeranger Super Sentai special -__-).
Buuut the reason why Fiveman thru Zyuranger were skipped I guess is because of finacial troubles. Now that would explain why the Toei Manga Matsuri (the series of films that the Sentai/KR movies were usually packed with) got axed to begin with after 1988. Otherwise chalk it up to lack of interest?
....Where's August when you need him? He'd probably have more extensive info
The Toei Super Hero Fair starting back in 93 with the Dairanger/Kamen Rider ZO/Janperson lineup was supposed to be a replacement. Sadly it finally got axed after 1995 but I guess it was a blessing in disguise, I don't think the world was ready for a Carranger movie XD
The GoGo V movie in 99 was an attempt to bring it back IMO because they figured that if the teamup movie franchise had gotten popular again thanks to the Ohranger VS Kakuranger V-Cinema feature, why not do another theatrical release?
Guess it didn't work because we wouldn't see the movie tradition come back until 2001 with the Kamen Rider AGITO/Gaoranger movie tag team. I really would have loved to have seen a kickarse Timeranger movie but ah well, that's what fanfics are for.
And there you have it. Started out with an opinion and pretty much ended up with an impromtu history of the sentai movie franchise. God I need some sleep...

...but the GoGoV movie was also a V-Cinema release. And, from what I understand, it was a case of GoGoV proving pretty popular, not just some forced release.
