Kenshiro - Mel Gibson (Mad Max) + Bruce Lee
Kenshiro (Shura arc) - Sylvester Stallone (Cobra)
Toki - Jesus Christ
Raoh - Arnold Schwarzenegger
Raoh (full armor on his horse) - Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer
Jagi - Lord Humungus (Mad Max 2)
Shin - Chuck Norris
Souther - Roman emperor Nero
Shu - David Carradine (Circle of Iron)
Yuda - Boy George
Amiba - Christopher Lambert
Falco - Dolph Lundgren (Rocky 4)
Ein - Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) + Richard Gere
Han - Freddie Mercury

There are other minor characters that are based on Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, and the Road Warriors.

Also, some Hokuto no Ken characters influenced the design of various video game fighters. Here are some examples:
- Rolento (Street Fighter series) and Heidern (KOF series) are based on the Colonel of Golan / Godland.
- Balrog (Vega in USA) is based on the masked and clawed Shura warrior.
- Vega's (Bison in USA) costume is based on that of Shin's.

There are so few franchises out there like Hokuto no Ken. Most action and "Shounen" anime are about the characters becoming stronger. Hokuto no Ken here? The characters are already strong now lets see what they do with that strength.

Easily one of my favorite anime series. I highly recommend the sequels and spin offs as well.

Well, I decided to watch this over again from the beginning instead of picking up where I left off at FoTNS2. I'm at the ep where Ken, Rei and Mamiya are going after the Fang Clan, who've taken Rei's sister, Airi hostage.

Too bad they couldn't complete the rest of the manga arcs. They stopped at the Shura Arc in the anime.
