That episode was pretty nice. I think this was like the last episode to give any sort of Focus to Genta's ambitions and it was a nice way to end it. Genta's determined to get his own SUSHI Restaurant. He's not going to sell out, no matter how good his non-sushi food is.

Although I think this episode said his dad left him . . . either his dad left Genta when Genta was older, or Genta had to raise himself out in the wilderness or something . . .

I liked that episode, too, but the end left me questioning Genta's choice a bit.

Under normal circumstances, I would have taken the marketing opportunity in the hopes that it can generate buzz for the sushi. But, in the end, in the context of the series, it interfered with his role as a Shinkenger, so it was the right choice.

"The point of the episode" was Takeru encouraging Kotoha to have a little more faith in herself and not to always look to him for what she should do. It's nothing to do with whether or not he sees her as girlfriend material

or Genta had to raise himself out in the wilderness or something . . .

I like this look of Kotoha way more than the ponyhairs and thigh-high socks that she was forced to wear to appear like she's a little girl. I don't really think girls nowadays would wear the kind of clothes that Kotoha was wearing.

I'm trying to phrase this as tactfully as possible: You may think Kotoha looks better dressed this way as it is "sexier" (I don't mean revealing, I mean more appealing to you as a man) but that's not appropriate for her character. She dresses that way to demonstrate that she's naive and sheltered, more so than other girls her age; and even after developing more self-confidence towards the end of the show, she still dresses that way. So she must be happy. She still isn't quite "grown-up" and after everything she goes through in the show, I don't think she should be pushed to be more like an adult

One of my favorite episodes was when Kotoha-chan asked Genta for a curry dish, and his curry dish ended up overshadowing his sushi sales. :laugh:

I really liked that episode, too. It's a dilemma that I think every creator faces (or fears they might face) at some point; that the thing they really love doing is not the thing that will make them popular.

Not sure about the hairstyle, but thigh-high socks seem to be used by random female extras in toku these days, so it's not something that weird.
