Clips from an interview with Tetsuya Nomura reveal Final Fantasy Versus XIII has an open world. Players will be able to explore it by using a car, which they can ride at any time.

Monsters walk around on the field and sometimes the will pop up if you are just hanging around. Another bullet point reads, “battles are basically seamless.†Aside from load times when changing areas, the world is seamless too.

Another report on the interview says their are destructible objects and a fight scene modeled off a gas station in Shinjuku.

I was more interested to get this then FF13 but...I'll wait for a gameplay trailer before I make any more judgements.

I never regret getting FF13 but that's just me. I got it because of a friend but I think FFvs13 is gonna be better.

the liner feel of ff 13 annoyed be a bit but there you go if in Vs 13 they make the growth system better then it will the the first time iv like the spin of game more than the main line game

YES! Thanks for the pics and info, it's nice to know that Square is going back to the whole open world thing. Man I can't wait, I really don't know what to expect from this game.

this sounds like it will be pretty good. I still havent beaten 13. I lost interest on the last disc. I just didnt care.

After how terrible XIII was I just don't feel hyped for this at all any more. Gameplay will have a different feel but it just seems like they'll just make it like Kingdom Hearts and Dirge of Cerberus.
