The job system in Final Fantasy is one of those features that can make or break the experience, depending on how well executed it is. From FF III's classic job system to the more recent iterations in games like FF Tactics and FF XIV, there's a lot to unpack.
Let's be real here: FF V's job system revolutionized gameplay, giving us access to an insane variety of skills and abilities. The freedom to mix and match classes felt so empowering! But then you've got FF XIV, which has taken it to a whole new level with its flexibility and depth. The fact that you can switch classes with a simple click is genius, totally embraces that "my character can be whatever I want" mentality.
On the flip side, there are certainly misfires. FF XII's Gambit system, for instance, was innovative but left many players craving a more traditional job structure. It felt like there was too much automation and not enough direct influence over characters.
What are your thoughts on the best and worst job systems in the series? Which job classes have become your all-time favorites? Let's rank them! I want to hear all of your passionate takes!
