Since there's a lot of doctor love going on let's see who's you personal favorite. I'm going to have to split this up because there a max limit of 10

Eccelston was my first Doctor, but Tennant literally had more of my favorite episodes (mainly Dalek themed ones :P).

Smith seems skechty to me, but in a good way though, but still too early for me to judge him.

my vote goes to 10.

I think it's too early to call on Matt Smith. My God he hasn't had even five episodes yet. I think he could potentially be one of my favorites but we'll have to see.

Loved Chris Eccleston. I like David Tennant. I really, really do but I don't know. Towards the end of his run I just got tired of them doing this whole thing where in the same breath the show is beating you over the head with HE'S THE MOST WONDERFUL PERSON EVER he's dangerous and ruins peoples lives BUT HE'S STILL THE MOST WONDERFUL PERSON EVER! I mean obviously there's a dangerous aspect to the Doctor but still, I just got tired of them constantly undercutting him like that. It just struck me as needlessly cynical.

The new episodes feel like they're more back on track and fun again to me.

I blame Davies taking more and more control over the character for that. In all fairness, it hurt the Tenth Doctor to be saddled down with that sort of writing.

I also blame Davies for pretending like there wouldn't be an Eleventh Doctor when they wrote the ending.

Is a wonderful scene if you see it as the last Doctor, or even see the show in a vacuum. But viewed as another part of the Doctor's story, it makes people think of the Tenth Doctor in a bad light.

Also, Matt's been around...how long? Three episodes? No one's going to say him unless they're the type to immediately latch on to a character because its new.

...Nevermind.

Well, I don't think that bit of dialog itself makes him look bad. I really don't think they were tying to make it the last Doctor as much as giving a since of closure to that era of the show. Also, I think what they were trying to define a little bit more what Regeneration actually is for a TimeLord. ..and basically it's immortality in a way nobody would really want it.

Because you live on but the catch is it's not you. It's your memories but it's not you. It's more like reincarnation that way. But it's still death of the person you were. Some other guy goes off into the sunset. Usually the Doctor either doesn't have time for much of a reaction to it or is simply resigned to it as a reality of what is about to happen.

I like that Regeneration happened as early in the new series as it did because it was the real test of wether the new show could go on. They got modern audiences to buy into everything from the Tardis to a non-linear view of time but the final test was could they part with the guy they had liked and had been following. Obviously the answer is yes.

I think with 10 they wanted to show a more emotional reaction to a TimeLord confronting the fact that he was about to die. He does the Doctor equivalent to putting affairs in order and then has a moment of fear before it finally happens. But as in life, while there is death there is also birth.
