Favorite DC Comics series/story arc/or issue?

I'm not a huge fan of comic books, but I definitely have a decent collection from over the years. I've been dabbling back into comics in recent weeks, and I'm mainly a DC main. I can honestly say I haven't bought more than a dozen Marvel comics issues in my entire life. I don't know why, but I just like DC more. It feels classier to me. :sweat: That's a different thread all together though :laugh: Favorite series and story arc of that said series. . .

Legends of the Dark Knight is my favorite series of all time. I love it, and I love the past stories they tell. I was pretty pissed when they ended it last year.

My favorite story arc of all time, by far was Knightfall. I was only 4 when the series was going, but it was the only series I've ever followed from beginning to end, and I loved it. I had to buy all the issues back again, because I lost all the original ones from when I was 4. Since I was 4, they were probably destroyed or lost! I even bought the deluxe issue 500 of Batman with the split cover. Love that **** :buttrock: And a close follow-up would have to be Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. That series was excellent on all levels and was honestly the epitome of what a comic book should be like.

A favorite issue for me would have to be Superman #177! The art from Ed McGuinness was flawlessly cartoonish and had some really crazy action. He fought a different baddie every two pages. Great stuff!

Favorite Series: The original Superman series (especially the Silver-Age stuff), the original Batman series, the original Justice League of America, Jack Kirby's New Gods and Captain Carrot And His Amazing Zoo Crew (a personal favorite).

Favorite Miniseries: Watchmen and DC: The New Frontier (which, like The Incredibles, is "The Anti-Watchmen")

All comics should be akin to some shitty, badly paced story that makes everyone around Bruce and Clark look incompetant and weak, with an insanely stupid conclusion that insults the intelligence of the reader?

Hey, you watch WWE! You should know a hell of a lot about stupid things that insults the intelligence of people.

And hell yeah, I do! Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are the ****! But let's be honest: Any story that uses the cartoonish-like artwork of Ed McGuinness is going to have a cartoonish story. Public Enemies was meant to be an off-the-wall storyline, that had lots of hammy moments for Superman and Batman. It was the first story arc for that series, so of course they were gonna make it focus on Superman and Batman's powers, along with making them look uber-strong.

It's funny that you'd pick that particular story arc, because I really don't read many. You happened to pick one I have.

It was pretty good. I loved the concept of Batman and Superman being raised as dictators! :laugh: But I have to admit, I'm not at all a fan of alternate timelines. I hate all Infinite/Infinity storylines. I'm a fan of sticking with the main characters and their respective worlds, and the times they spill over into other stories too. But I don't like changing the worlds and making annoying changes with different realities and all that jazz. It's annoying as hell :redface2:

But I did like Absolute Power a lot. But for the record, Ed McGuinness is my favorite comick book artist, so I have favoritism towards him and his stories. That might also lend to the reason I'd pick Public Enemies over Absolute Power.

My favorite ongoing series from DC was Impulse, which I'm still collecting back-issues of. My favorite story arc from them, though, is probably Knightfall. I really wish they'd restore both Bart and Jean to their former glory.

I don't read comics all that regularly but my favorite ongoing series included Nightwing & Blue Beetle.


I liked "Infinite Crisis" a lot but Knightfall is probably my favorite as well.
