Eye Opener - The Goseigers are Weak

What made Alata cool was in episode 16. Probaly one of the best episode of the whole series.
That was probably my favorite episode in the entire series. It's the first episode that really made me see Yudai as a good actor. Anyone with a frame like his, portraying an unimposing character and still managing to pull off these moments that make you believe he can kick ass is great in my book.

There have been other reds in the last few years that are supposed to have imposing demeanors, but they just don't manage to pull it off out of suit, and a lot of the in suit stuff just isn't too great either. Maybe because of the production problems, Goseiger was allowed to do things a little differently with the action. There was certainly a more unique style of action that represented the characters in suit better than we've gotten in ages.

I always felt there was something a little special in the mecha fights, too. I mean, for featuring ridiculous robots covered in heads and all, they always managed to do something to hold my interest to the end. (Though sometimes for the wrong reasons, a la Mystic Runner.)

Maybe it's because they allow the heroes to get beat up and look bad that I like them? A two-sided fight is always more interesting than a one-sided one. Like, I recently rewatched the episode where they fight the virus-monster, who steals GoseiGreat's sword and beats up on him with it for a good minute or so. I mean, I'm sorry, that's just amazing.

Some of GoseiRed's most memorable in-suit moments are the various things Takeuchi Yasuhiro lets them throw him into, as well. :P

I think it's all in the execution regardless of wether you're doing the plucky young rookie heroes who aren't that powerful or the team of trained soldiers/warriors. There's room for both types of heroes just as there is room for your Supermans and Batmans next to your Spidey's. Or your Kotaro's with your Shouichi's.

I don't know if there was a different person on direction, or fight choreography, writing or just that a different dude was in the Red suit this time round or what but once GoSeiger gets going it just benefits from a better execution than Shinkenger even though I think Shinkenger is the cooler concept.

I still have a great affection for Shinkenger and I still gladly root for ShinkenRed but when GoSeiger started picking up I couldn't help but think to myself "Toei, where the hell was this when you were doing Shinkenger?!" Guess they were just more concerned with trucking out the next gaudy poweranimal hat to slam on ShinkenOh. :disappoin

We still got a badass crossover movie out of it, though, so issall good.

Uh, Not this again....

Before i start another lash out, why do you feel The Shinkengers and the Goukaigers are good examples of what sentai should be? Cause I think Maskman would own them all :buttrock:

The only reason people are going to support this is because it's an eighties series and everyone wanks over those. All I ever recall seeing is the Maskman getting flipped into the ground or knocked somewhere.

The Goseiger are weak? WTF. At least they LIVED through their entire series. *cough*Gaoranger*coughcough*

:O_O: When did this happen before?

What the...I said nothing of the sort...I'm not comparing who's better..

Its Nothing to do with being better or worse for me, its how people insist on keep beating round the bush trying to find sense in what they couldn't, This discussion is really getting old, thats the show take it or leave it.

What are you talking about? I'm so lost it's not even funny..

A. I'm not angry, If i come off as such then it is unintentional.

B. The fact that the discussion is pointless, i personally don't like the "They are weak" line and the insistence on comparing it to a not much better show thats my dilemma.

Because of the mo..oh ****...wait. You didn't read a damn thing I said! No wonder.

C'mon man..that's not fair titles are just 2% of threads. :/

True. ..and it. was. awesome!

It sure is, and right now it is my favorite VS movie (until the 199 Battle movie comes out, that is). I still like to rewatch scenes of Gedou ShinkenRed kicking butt all over the place every now and then.

I think the Shinkengers and Gokaigers are NOTHING compared to any teams from the 80's or 90's.

While I'm usually outspoken when being critical of a series it doesn't have to be a better or worse, my dad can beat up your dad kind of thing. Nobody needs to validate their love of Maskman or DaiRanger or whatever by hating on GoSeiger. GoSeiger being good or even okay doesn't mean Maskman is forgotten or suddenly lower tier.

Mine to actually and I've been watching them since OhRanger vs. CarRanger. (MegaRanger vs. Gingaman has long been a favorite of mine.) The Goseiger/Shinkenger movie balanced having the inter-character conflict with plenty of kickass teamwork and heroics. I think the two teams contrasted each other well while also having a fun chemistry between them. Plus the action was just slick and it was paced really well.

I fucking hate the Goseigers.

It doesn't matter to me if they are strong or not; I don't feel anything redeeming in these characters. They all seem like vapid, empty shells of so-called "personality traits."
