Sorry but that is just wrong. Tokusatsu is anything with special effects. As stated already even the Japanese consider Star Trek and the like as toku. Just because some people don't want to admit that something NON Japaense can be toku, doesn't make it so.:laugh:

No American show is recognized as Tokusatsu (unless it has Japanese source material, then it's Americanized Tokusatsu). Most fans recognize Godzilla
Look up Tokusatsu on Wikipedia. They don't count anything non-Japanese as Toku either.
Tokusatsu is a Japanese term that applies to any live-action film or television drama that usually features superheroes and makes considerable use of special effects (tokusatsu literally translates as "special effects").

So, technically, a Japanese can say that Superman or any of the Hollywood superhero movies can be classified as Tokusatsu. Though, most of the time, it is closely associated with the Japanese made film/drama...
