Yeah, PAX has playable demos. Gearbox has a pretty good track record, and apparently they've completed the game and are basically just polishing it now.

Im surprised anyone cares. When/if it comes out, it will get mediocre reviews, 6s to high 8s. Some fans will hate it, others will question why anyone even likes or is excited for the game, and finally the rest will meekly defend the game with "its a good game. I like it. Its not supposed to be awesome. It's supposed to be fun. Oh well. They can patch it. They did what they could with the material. The next game will be better."

At this point, the quality of the game is almost irrelevant compared to the fact that, after almost two decades, the game is coming out at all.
And... to be fair, there was this other game called Prey that, after a similarly ridiculously long delay, still turned out pretty decent. So who knows, it could actually be a good game.
