Dragonball Kai - Talk UP!

I'm saying this for the record, and I know it may sound really dumb. But all things considered, I'd actually rather buy the early 2000s saga sets rather than either the 2009 remastered, OR these new Kai sets!

If they hadn't had this horrible, disgusting, stupid idea of cropping the shows, as they did with the last remastered sets, those WOULD HAVE BEEN the definitive buys. But now with Kai, they're removing episodes and adding horrible looking footage and OP/EDs, that totally hinder the experience from a purists viewpoint.

So as dumb as it may sound, I still end up buying these sets... Even if they're dirty and not the best quality, they're uncropped... uncut... and exactly as they were aired.

I guess you have never heard of the Dragonboxes then. They make the orange bricks (2009 release as you call it) obsolete. If you want a perfect Z release, they are by far the best release you can get here. It's funimation finally giving the fans what they want in a Z release.

All they did was touch up a few things

I'm a fan of kai for the sake of it cutting most of the filler but almost all of the redrawn footage looks terrible. They really aren't putting much effort into that side of it's creation.

Oh, I agree. It's just that they didn't "add" anything that should turn you off as a viewer of the original, they're acutally cutting out

I don't understand why some of guys don't like the redrawn animation and colors. I actually like it. It makes the show look much cleaner. I recently saw the episode where Gohan first turned SSJ2 and that episode looked so clean and vibrant than the original version. I see that as a good thing. Plus, I'm glad they got rid of the fillers because there was a lot of old episodes where the characters just stood there and kept recapping their stories or situations.

You're mistaking remastered and redrawn. The footage from Gohan's SSJ2 scene is just 95% cleaned up, not redrawn.

U crazy. How does it looks worse? Pics! I DEMAND PICS!!!

Most of the show isn't redrawn at all but there are some frames and stuff that are. They basically trace over the original footage but with less detail. They have gotten better over time but sometimes it's jarring going from the original stuff to these traced scenes that seem to be done for no reason. I'm looking for a comparison thread. I'll link you if I can find it.

Yep, except for the Japanese cast changes due to toei being cheap (the ones changed due to deaths are obviously understandable though). The English cast changes were all for the better though.

Double posting because Trunks can now become SSJ3. These card games love giving ssj3 to everyone.

That's a change, but it's not really "adding" if you will. Like, it shouldn't make you not want to watch the show. And, yeah, english cast changes were good.

They said so? There aren't enough of them anyway.

I like DBK. It's cleaner and it takes me less time to watch without missing things that are important. I get much less "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" and more DBZ per episode and it looks better. It's not adding to the "mass" but it is adding more to its value for me.

Why do people like the Majin Buu saga anyway? I don't see why.

Edit: SSJ3 Trunks? :redface2:

You're right about that. Those're definitely head over heels better than most. Especially considering their prices... I'm sorry I didn't mention those. They slipped my mind. I honestly have to grab one of those these days! :O_O: Why aren't they as heavily advertised is my question. They ARE the definitive sets.
