Awesome special.
[Hide]The deaths of half the characters in "Voyage of the Damned" were all unexpected, though they all died EXACTLY the same way (an ACME-style fall into the engine core), Astrid being killed was the big shock, but her handling of The Host's master Max Capricorn was a great homage to "Aliens" and "Alien 3". The Doctor used the teleporter bracelet on her wrist to reallign her atoms, but couldnt sustain them as a physical form, so he was forced to disperse her atoms into space as living energy.
Only THREE characters survive besides The Doctor, one of the best twists was that one of the survivors is an asshole who makes money from the tragedy, the moral is that The Doctor cant decide who lives, dies, gains, or loses, from his experiances, otherwise he'd be a true monster and less of a Time Lord. At least Clive Swift's character also gained the fortune he never had at it's conclusion, enough to buy the whole planet if he "didnt stay out of trouble". He would have made a good companion, as teased in their final scene
The scene with The Doctor being elevated by The Hosts under his control was a superb subtle religious moment. Had to be seen. The new theme song is decent, reminiscent of the 1980s theme, but is similar to the current theme.
The season four trailer looks solid too[/Hide]
