Dr. Who - Talk Up!

I was worried about not having any more Stargate to watch on Friday nights, but Doctor Who is a very nice replacement for the time being. :) Even if I did grab the episodes soon after the show finished airing on BBC, rewatches are still fun.

I <3 Stargate. I was a little iffy on the Ori in the beginning but they've developed them pretty well, and the season finale was amazing.

Dr. Who seems pretty cool, I like how weird and random it is. Random is always fun. I know this is the latest generation in a long line of Whos, but if the other series are anywhere near as good as this I'd like to check them out. I guess I should start scouring the web for more eps.

I've only managed to miss a couple of episodes of the good Doctor (which I'll just watch when I pick up the DVD set in July), and I'm REALLY enjoying the series. Which is suprising since I've never been a fan of Doctor Who.

Oh...and Rose is all KINDS of hot!!! Hubba-hubba!

Old Dr. Who is great, though you have to prepare yourself for ultra-low budget effects, and sometimes less-than-convincing acting jobs from some of the minor players. The atmosphere is something like classic Star Trek, though decidedly British where Trek was kind of the epitome of American sci-fi. But the scripts, while not as postmodern/Buffyesque as the new ones, are really fun, with some excellent writers having the time of their lives. I'd start off with the Tom Baker (fourth doctor) stuff, he and Peter Davison (fifth) are my favorite. There's a lot of classic stuff in the Jon Pertwee (third) run as well.

Ah, flashes back to junior high and early high school Saturday nights, watching Dr. Who on PBS...

What an incredible premiere for the second season

Cassandra was back, in a wonderfully poigtant and touching fashion, taking over Roses' body for most of the episode, Rose herself took mostly a backseat to affairs as Cassandra took center stage causing as much havoc as she could, eventually taking over The Doctor's body for a breif period, it did lead to some funny exchanges. Then she discovered how lonesome one of the Flesh Zombies were when she entered one of them, and helped The Doctor create a potential vaccine.

The epsiode's themes on cleansness and new life was abundant here, the Flesh having never known a human touch, and when they did touch anyone, they infect and kill them. The conclusion with them all being cured of their virual strains, and getting the chance to live for the first time (they had only been bred with every deisease on Earth for drug testing purposes for cures etc)

The Cat Maidens getting theirs at the hands of The Flesh during their rampage was extrmely graphic, with horrific scarring. Cassandra finally entered the body of her half life man servant who was already dying from a heart attack, so The Doctor took her back into her own past to say to her old human form how beutiful she was, realting to an event Cassandra told The Doctor earlier in the episode.

Cassandra: This form of skin at the back was once my front, the lower region from my back is now my front

Rose
: Oh right, so you're talking out of your ar-

Cassandra: Ask no more questions
