Nope. Most is bullshit but demons who possess animals are just screwed from the get-go as seen when Jesus supposedly throws the demons into pigs, which of course are only powered by instinct alone.
My theory is that the demon (Or any person attempting to posses **** or whatnot), like software , has to have the right RAM or Memory or this case the correct host with enough sentience, to take over and fully manifest/control. Otherwise if a being possesses a lesser being ,regardless of their intelligence in their own self or body , they too get degraded or are trapped in permanent limbo inside the host until they or someone else gets it ,him or her out.
Thus this is why demons prefer man as humans have the correct amount of sentience necessary if not intelligence to be controlled or possessed. That is how I believe human and animal possession is realistically done, if it exists at all . Some demons may prefer animal hosts because if demons are a manifestation of man's collective sins , one of them are bestiality, they would take the form of an animal to fulfill their perverted fantasies while terrorizing mankind.
However that dog had no real indication of possession and even if it did, the kibbles n' bits would get it because of instinct alone which overrides any limited logic a dog has . Just coming from the viewpoint that alot of dogs aren't intelligent unlike cats, but they happen to **** less and pee less in the house than a cat because you can just take them into the backyard and let it turn into soil.
