I've stopped reading when I got to page 3 cuz its getting really long.

Come on, RSR, I've just adviced you to tone down a little with most of your little dissatisfaction in life. Some mothers do most of the housework, more than just washing the dishes and good ones rarely complaint. They wash dishes -- not only their own plates but dishes of the entire family. You've only been tasked to clean up everybody's dishes and Grrr, not fair!

I've got to wash my family's dirty dishes everyday and I never see myself as a dirty scoundrel, as you've described yourself. IMO its only fair if we did a little work such as cleaning up even though our parents made us food or not.
Sorry about that Basri. Anyway, I've been told I'm not the only one so everything's OK now.

MaraJade, thanks for wishing me good luck.

Maybe it's me, but I fail to see the correlation between your discontentment with your family and moving to Japan.

Seriously, it's never good to 'run away' from something ... you might end up in a situation worse than where you started from.

Japan isn't all honey and sugar, you know: lots (and I mean LOTS) of hours working if you want to earn a decent living; language poses a serious problem if you aren't fluent enough, and so forth. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dissuade you of taking step, I only want to point out that Japan is not some kind of toku/sentai/anime-heaven where everything is super-dandy. Life can be hard there and taking this step shouldn't be taken lightly. Too often have I seen foreign language teachers arriving in Japan and unable to adapt, thus leaving after only a few weeks.

Try to first visit there a few times and get a good picture of how life is there, including working ethics. It might seem easy, but I can tell you that at some point in time I was near a burnout due to overworking.

Also think of the fact that you'll be all on your own. I was lucky enough to have my company looking after me as well as my girlfriend and family-in-law so to speak. Good for me because when you've got an illness, you'll be happy to have someone around to help you.

So all in all, it's a double-sided coin: there's some good, there's also some bad. But if your discontentment with your family is pushing you to move to Japan, I would said it's not the best incentive to take such a huge step.

Just one question..

If I'm going to be all alone, would this include not being able to make friends and talk to Japanese people, thus no Japanese Girlfriend?

Oh, and about the Beavis n Butthead thing, I forgot to mention that was meant to be sarcastic humour, but too many of you seemed to have taken that a bit too seriously.

I didn't say you would be all by yourself all the time nor did I meant to imply that there is 0 possibility for finding a girlfriend.

All I'm saying is that getting to know people takes time (whether it is to become close friends or something else). In the mean time, you're left to fend on your own, except if you're lucky enough to have a company that looks after you.
If you're fluent at Japanese, it will help speed up the process of making friends of course ... if you're not, it might prove to be a handicap.

I hope you are not obsession over Japanese women, because they are not better or worse than western women ... different, yes, but that doesn't mean better or perfect. Don't fall into the trap of urban myths and such.

Also you don't necessarily need to go to Japan to find Japanese women honestly. I know many that actually live in my area, and guess what, they speak English. I really don't see the big deal of moving to Japan. Just because the place is different doesn't mean it's better. It'll actually be very tough with the language barrier and xenophobia as mentioned previously.

Japanese women do exist in England, like one of my favorite bands, Mika Bomb, lives in England and 4 of their members are Japanese(3 of which are female). However they might be a little too old for you. :P

I've never heard of this "Mikabomb". Maybe they're not doing very well here, maybe nobody's buying their records, maybe radio stations couldn't be assed to play their songs, I dunno.

ANYWAY..

This thread is getting completely off topic. Remember the thread SentaiRanger made about him becomming a TV Nihon subber, which went completely off topic and faded into obscurity with people who's names I'll not name bickering about Animation vs Live Action and which is better, and all sorts of utter gibberish that I can't remember now? Well it's just like that. So..

1 - No I don't hate my family. I appreciate everything they're doing, they've been great and really supportive, everything's calmed down and made sense now and so I'm continueing to wash their dishes.

2 - No I don't hate England. Just because I want to live in Japan doesn't mean I hate my home country. I may've described it as a miserable old git of a country but that was only sarcastic humour (although you gotta admit, it is a bit damp and dreary here and can give it a rather miserable tone to it), and besides there are probably some people in Japan who's say similar stuff about their country just as a joke.

3 - The Beavis n Butthead stuff was really meant to be sarcastic humour, and as for the Japanese Girlfriend stuff, lets just say girlfriends are like packets of crisps / potato chips. They all come in different flavors and people have their personal favorite flavors. Same probably with men through womens eyes. But in the meantime I don't want to go into further detail about this.

kyo28 thank you for the link to that website on the other thread. It was pretty useful. Thank you everyone who gave me all the advice about living in Japan.

Now, once again, could I have a Admin, or a Moderator, to have this thread Locked!!

Arigato Gozaimasu!!
