Do you believe in mermaids?

dude the entire basis of your argument on the existence of mermaids is that it was in movies, anime and tv shows, not a very strong argument

in the past a lot of sailors have mistaken manatees for mermaids, I'm willing to bet that's where the origins of the mermaids come from

Exactly. I might be a hypocrite for saying this, watching an episode of Rosario + Vampire gave a little history on the myth of mermaids. They would lure sailors to them and sink their boats. Although thats probably one myth. :redface2:

Mermaids don't exist. But we can sure as hell try.

Some one get me a willing male human participant and a female dolphin.

I believe in the spirit of mermaids. :) In my opinion, they can certainly be real in the mind of someone with a big heart and imagination. (However...in reality, they truly don't exist. :() Believing in them (or in any other magic) is an escape from the real world...to wonder beyond reality. To a world we wish we could live in, to get away from our typical life. I always thought it would be fun to imagine being a mermaid...even though I know it will never REALLY come true. It's just nice to have a big imagination! One can only dream! :anime:

I believe in the spirit of Tokusatsu too. Don't you? A lot of the things in those shows aren't "really" real...but when I watch them, or think about them...they sure are real in my heart!

I agree with you on that:buttrock:
I love mermaids ,but my mind always goes to the science of it, the biology of it and there it gets fishy.

Mermaids were not only sirens that sang sailors to their deaths, there are also some mermaid Gods. Not to really bring my fav place in the world into this, but the Star bucks logo is based on a mermaid God with two tails. I dunno the name ,but if you look it up you will come across pics of the original logo and some info about the image.

To me mermaids are real in the fact that they exist in religions, myths, and literature.

I agree with you a whole lot of it MagiBlue2. I love mermiads for their beauty... and sometimes antics. I mean, Ariel (from the Little Mermaid), Lucia Nanami (From Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch) and Emma Gilbert (from H2O: Just add water) are my personal fave mermaids. do you like those too?

oh btw, check out my other thread related to mermaids, but it's on H2O.
