Disney Announces Yet Another Attempt At A New Star Wars Trilogy

You’ve probably heard this before: Disney has just announced a new Star Wars trilogy is in development with a high-profile producer in charge. Seems they’ve made this same announcement about twenty times and each time, they always let the producer go a few months later and say “never mind, we aren’t doing this.” Who’s the latest they’ve picked up? It’s Simon Kinberg, the co-creator of Star Wars Rebels (he’s known better there as “the one who isn’t Dave Filoni”). He also produced 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies, so he has a lot of experience with high-action fanciful stuff. But is he THE ONE? We’ll know in a few months. When this story first broke, some news sources erroneously reported Kinberg was developing Episodes 10-12. That is not the case: this will be a whole new story in a new part of the galaxy, completely separate from the Skywalker Saga. Riskier, but allows for more creative freedom…assuming they like what he whips up and they haven’t liked anything yet. I suppose you can’t blame Disney for not wanting to take chances. The sequel trilogy, let’s face it, was kind of a rushed disjointed mess, and after Solo underperformed, the whole idea […] (read full article...)

Simon Kinberg? Really? He's the guy who made those terrible X-Men movies? I'm not sure he's the right person for this. I hope they've learned their lesson and they're going to hire someone who actually knows what they're doing.

I'm cautiously optimistic. If they can get the right writers and directors, this could be a great new era for Star Wars. I'm hoping they take some risks and try something new. We've seen the same old thing for years now

Honestly, I'm tired of the toxic fanbase. They whine about everything, from the color of a character's skin to the gender of a director. It's exhausting. Can't people just enjoy a good story without complaining? It's really sad to see how many fans have turned into such bitter, hateful people. They've forgotten what Star Wars is really about: hope, friendship, and the power of the Force. Instead, they're focused on negativity and division.

@Awakens Oh, the Star Wars fanbase? The same one that complains about everything from the Prequel Trilogy to the Sequel Trilogy? Yeah, they're a real treat. I'm sure they'll find something to complain about with this new trilogy, too.

New Star Wars is always exciting, but Kinberg's track record is a mixed bag. Still, maybe a fresh start with a new story could be good. Let's see what he comes up with before we judge too harshly.

Hey, Kinberg did okay with Star Wars Rebels. Plus, the guy knows how to handle big franchises. Maybe this is exactly what Star Wars needs right now – someone who understands the business side of things too.

I'm glad they're moving on from the Skywalker saga. Time for a brand new story in a new corner of the galaxy! Let's see what Kinberg cooks up for us.
